Default What is safest for close in age?

I'd love to have two babies fairly close in age. I've heard different things about what is safe for your body or best for your body, but not sure which is the most accurate.

So, I ask you.. have you read anything in particular? I only only still pg with my first, but I want to figure out "what" I'd like to do so I have a plan. I was thinking I could do 12-14 months apart.... DH thinks I am crazy, he wanted at least 2 yrs... but I want to get my pg's done and over with and be able to enjoy the kids growing up together.

Thoughts??

I guess it all just depends on the person.

I had some difficulties with my second pregnancy (got pregnant when my first was around 5 months old). Nothing too bad just started having cramping and contractions early on. My daughter ended up coming a little over a month early but did pretty well.

I’ve heard of people having great pregnancies when getting pregnant very soon after birth. I’ve seen a lot of ladies with babies just 10 months apart and they never had problems with having their pregnancies that close.

Of course doctors recommend waiting 18 months that way your body can fully heal from the previous pregnancy. I would just talk to your doctor and see what he/she says. If you have a difficult first pregnancy then you might want to consider waiting a little while to get pregnant again.

You should do a search on this topic. There are a lot of interesting articles out there both about not spacing them close together and others that are all for it.

I have heard that 18 months is best too but I am not sure how much it maters in the long run. My two are 14 months apart. I tried over two years to get pregnant with my daughter and she was such a hard pregnacy. I went into kidney failure at one point...it was all hell. Anyway, she was only BF but I thought we would start trying right away becasue it took us so long witht he first. I was so happy to find out I was pregnant again when she was just a few months old. I BF her until 8 month and then had to stop. My second pregnancy was a breeze. It was so easy and it went by so fast. I had no problems and actually gained less weight with him. They are now best friends. They love each other and it was easier in a way to have them close. They did everything together and my daughter was never jellous of her new brother. She was to little to know any difference. It took me over 3 years to get pregnant again. I am now 13 weeks pregnant with twins and I am so glad that they are twins so they each have each other to play with. It is so much fun having them grow up together. My four children will all be under 5 and I think it will be great. Good luck on your plans and I hope it all works out for you.

I have read 18 - 20 months also for waiting .... I've also read that it is best that the oldest child is 3 before you have another, my oldest was 2 1/2 when our youngest was born and there were no jealousy issues and my oldest was always very gentle with the our youngest so I am sure it depends on the child .

My DD and DS are 18 months apart and my DS and the new baby will be about 16 months apart.

I think 18 months apart is great!!
