I picked up a Pregnancy & Newborn magazine from the Dr office last week and they had several "True Confessions" listed in one of the articles. Some of them were really good. I thought I'd post 1 occasionally here. I thought they'd be good for the new moms and the seasoned moms alike to discuss. New moms can ask questions about it, seasoned moms can offer tips or advice if it happened to them or not too

True Confession #1 "I didn't shower for days!"

Between the feedings, the diaper changes, the endless loads of laundry, the never-ending parade of visitors wanting to see the baby and trying to fit in as much sleep as you cna, you'll be surprised at how quickly a day goes by and you didn't have time to shower. Even if you do have time, you'll probably hate leaving your baby alone because, what if she cries?

"I didn't shower for days at a time, sometimes an entire week," says Jennifer Scinta of Alpharetta, Ga. "Two and a half years later, it's pretty much the same story except I manage to shower about two to three times a week." A common complaint, says Debra Gilbert Rosenberg, author of The New Moms Companion: Care for Yourself While You Care for Your Newborn and a licensed clinical social worker who runs support groups for first-time mothers in River Forest, Ill. "I've heard about this for years and years and years. In those early days, I have a 36-hour rule. If you can get a shower in before 36 hours, you're doing great," says Debra.

Still, Debra values the importance of a daily shower if for no other reason than to boost your already-weakened morale. When you are tired, carrying extra weight and living in pajamas, a shower will help you feel beautiful again. "You'll get to the point that you'll know your baby's cries, and he'll sleep longer, and you'll be able to take loner showers and eventually do your hair and eventually put on make-up," says Debra. "Until then, just do what you can, and let go of the guilt."

(Can you relate? lol )

When I got home, I went to live with my MIL for a bit and she is the pushy, annoying type of MIL so she took the baby and let me take a shower. I swear it was the best shower ever! I made the water really hot and it felt so great on my breasts since my milk just started coming in. I do thank her for that.

Oh my god that is so true. That first shower after baby and when ever you get a chance to actually take one, is HEAVEN!

Here's my true confession. In my zombie state of caring for a newborn, I used what I thought was a baby wipe to wash off my sons face after he spit up, it was actually a Clorox disinfecting wipe...I never told ANYONE about this one. I did wash his face repeatedly with water - the product is bleach free, but boy did I panic!!!!

So this is what I have to look forward too? Knowing my mom, she'll have the baby in her arms anytime I'm not breastfeeding, so I'll probably have lots of time to shower.
