Default Pregnancy and dental work

I was wondering how safe this is? I am currently in the dreaded two week wait so not sure if I am even pregnant yet or not. However, I have a few teeth that really should get taken care of. I was wondering if I should chance getting it done now or wait? The one is starting to get painful so that is my only thing about going now. I just don't want to do anything to possibly jeopardize the baby.

Thanks!
Heather

I am not sure. I would ask your OB if you are indeed pregnant and see what they say.

Usually they like to do work after the first trimester. I have heard of people getting teeth pulled and root canals done. I agree with the previous post. Ask your ob.

Always check with the ob first. But, I HAD to have dental work done, and it was ok as long as I didnt have xrays done. The levels used on people technically wouldn't have any affect on the baby, But as my ob said in the early stages of pregnancy it's always a hit or miss.

Unfortunately for me, at around 28 weeks, a piece of my filling cracked off my tooth and I had to rush around to find a dentist who would take me as a new patient.

My OB's office suggested that I get it fixed asap, and, because it was an old mercury-type amalgam filling, I was worried that the 'fumes' might harm myself and the baby. Luckily, the procedure took only a few minutes; but, sitting in the dental chair was a weird experience. When they put the chair back, it felt as if my whole belly went completely flat, and that baby was nowhere to be seen!
