If someone has gone through something similar please help...

I went to my OB a few weeks ago. And she said they do random urine drug test on all there patients and my test came back positive for Alcohol. I have not drank one with my pregnancy or even before it for that matter. I have tried for 2 years to get pregnant. So its totally false. I haven't been sick so I know it's not a cold medicine that I could have taken.

Then She calls me a couple days ago and said on my last visit it came back again with alcohol. My Fiancé and I are so upset and can't think of what could be causing this.

My OB can't give me a answer on what it could be. Any Suggestions???

Hi Colleen.. I have to say, I've never heard of a random drug test done at an OB/GYN's office.
Now I am not a doctor, but a quick search on google I found info regarding laboratory urine toxicology testing errors for alcohol. I have provided a link to the information. Google Answers: Laboratory urine toxicology testing error for alcohol It says that "there are instances where high levels of sugar in the urine could result in a false positive for alcohol content. It cna also be a laboratory error. It says you may want to have a check-up to see if there are abnormalities in your urine composition". In my personal opinion, if you challenged the doctor saying you don't drink, I would think she would know to check things out, and make sure your not diabetic or something. Maybe it is time to get a second opinion too.

Thats crazy! Did you find anything out? I couldn't imagine what my thoughts would be it that happened to me.

What Theresa said right, is that what was causing it to become positive?

HI,

Well I'm fine now!! They did some extensive blood test and found out that the pain medication that my doctor prescribed was causing it to come up positive.

I'm now almost 38 Weeks and can't wait!!!
