Default miscarriage question

If you have a miscarriage or anything like it (ectopic pregnancy, missed misscarriage,etc).....will you still get a positive pregnancy and for how long?

AF showed up on Saturday..it showed up earlier then usual..normally AF doesnt show up more towards the end of the month (Like the 25th..and thats when I was expecting AF to show)...and today..it is super heavy...more heavy then usual....I am going through super plus heavy tampons...and I am cramping sooo bad...I am in a fetus position.

and I even passed a couple of small (finger size) blood clots.

Could this possibly be a miscarriage? could I take a pregnancy test to find out....or what?

any help..is appreciated...

I'm sure if you took a pg test and see if you were pg. It takes a while for the PG hormones to go away. I think I read somewhere that you can get a on a hpt for up to like 2 weeks after a mc.

You can get a positive result for a few weeks, so it is entirely possible that you had a miscarriage. Take care of yourself!

I didnt test after my m/c but I've heard it can happen for up to 4 weeks or so. The body takes 4-6 weeks to get back to *normal*. Talk to your doc if you're worried! take care of yourself!

It could also be a ruptured ovarian cyst. That sounds just like the way my sis described it, chunks and all.

You will only test positive after a m/c if you had enough hcg in your system for it to show up. In early pregnancy, the levels are really low to begin with, and then your hcg drops even further before you m/c. For example. I got a + at 14dpo, it was only 69. two days later my hcg dropped to 29, then two days later, 10, and I miscarried that day.If I had taken a hpt, it would have been negative. If however you are more than 4 weeks pregnant, your hcg can be a couple hundred and at 5 weeks, over a thousand (mine was over 8000) in that case yes, you would still get a +hpt.
But if Af wasnt even due yet, and you started bleeding, then chances are you werent pregnant.
If your period continues to be heavy and painful and irregular, go see your dr. It could be a sign of cysts, as pp mentioned or of endemetriosis. Best wishes to you.
