Falling pg with Mirena IUD???

Have you ever heard of anyone falling pregnant with a Mirena IUD in place? I read that it can happen (less than 1 in 100 chance) and usually the IUD is partially or fully expelled from the uterus, but I also read that there is a small chance of falling pregnant even with it in place. Given it is a very tiny chance, it is still there. I got mine put in on Feb 2nd and had AF for a few weeks then every month since then it has come regular like clock work every 28 days/4wks. I know also that it is supposed to prevent ovulation in 'some women' but I know the signs of O and I have been every month. AF is now 5 days late and I've had some twinges in my breasts (but that could be AF too) and today I did a test and it came back -ve but then I was nauseous mid-morning. I don't know! Any suggestions ladies???

I do know one mom who became pregnant with the IUD. So, it is possible. But I would re-test in a few days and then if nothing and still negative test, call the doctor.

It is possible as no bc is fully proven to prevent. You might want to get another test just to make you feel better

Kat,
You should go to the OB, as Mirena can also give you a negative HPT result when you are pregnant.

The IUD will not hurt baby if you are pregnant and still in the early stages. But if you are pregnant, the doctor should get the IUD out asap.

They'll need to give you a blood test for preganancy and possibly a pelvic exam.

I am a married mother of 5, yes 5 lol and birthed 4 of them. After having my son who is now almost a year old my doc talked me into getting the mirena also telling me its better than a vasectomy well i feel like hell for two weeks vomiting, nausea I cannot eat my breasts are sore, yet hpt are coming back negative as well. I am not a rookie, but darn I feel pg.

My docs say to wait till a test comes positive, yes I am seeking a new doc.
Why would a hpt come back negative
