When you're off kilter what gets you back on track?
Sometimes I reflect on Situational Non-compliance. When kids do not do as expected but it is because they are not doing well just in this moment. Maybe there are moments when you feel off kilter as well.
The Family Coach Method Definition: Situational Non-Compliance
(Just think of it as PMS for kids,
except that it can happen anytime)
Sometimes your child can look like he is exhibiting willful non-compliance but he is not. These are times when a child is resistant, and it is just because circumstances are making it harder than usual for him to behave as expected.
If you consider your own behavior, sometimes you experience situational noncompliance as well – you’re underfed, and overtired, or you just haven’t had enough down time. We all deal with it. And it’s the same for kids. For example, when your child is tired and has not eaten, he may be more grumpy than normal.
All it takes is a cup of milk or a little turkey and cheese or a hug to get him back on track. What helps you and your kids get back on track?
