Asterisk Orange BEAUTY EXPERT Q&A: Beauty Questions from the SK message line

Q: What is a good sunless tanning product? I don't want to look orange.

A: From drugstores to department stores, the availability of tanning products is ever increasing. My personal favorite has to be Dior Bronze Natural Glow for the Face and Dior Shimmering Glow for the Body. I also recommend Diorskin Airflash Spray Foundation, although not a tanner, you can choose a shade slightly darker than your regular shade. Spray onto the face, keeping your eyes closed!

Another product I am very interested in, is Bronzing Argan Oil by Josie Maran Cosmetics. The Argan Oil helps to fade scarring and is reported to give a soft, golden glow to the skin. I have not tested this, but will let you know the results as soon as I do.

Being a fair-skinned Celt, I have attempted to achieve a 'golden glow' in the past, with disastrous consequences! So here is my hard-earned advice:

1] Shave or wax a day or two before your planned sunless tanning session.
This is to prevent sensitivity when applying product.
2] Exfoliate in the shower making sure to scrub the feet and ankles.
3] Apply tanning lotion with a sponge roller, this will give a smooth, seamless application.
4] Wait a few minutes, then rub the knees and elbows. This will lighten the effect of the tanning lotion on these areas.
5] Use a separate tanner for the face. The skin on the face is more sensitive and requires a specially formulated tanner.
