I was on the pill for about 5 years, I went off for about 1 year and used condoms, then once we started trying to get pregnant it took about 6 months. 3 months just going for it and 3 months actually trying to time everything, charting, the whole chabang. I have heard that your cycles typically go back to the type you had before taking bc pills. I know two friends who were on them for 5 years and 10 years and got pregnant the first month off of them. You just never know, but I wouldn't be too concerned about it. You have plenty of time and you don't need to rid your body of the bc hormones, they leave your body within days. Just focus on being healthy yourself. Have fun looking forward to ttc!

Hello. Boy, you sure are planning ahead!

Supposedly, your normal fertility is supposed to return after coming off the pill. My friend was on it for 5+ years and got pg on the first cycle. I was taking the mini pill while nursing Emma. I stopped taking it when we started TTC, but I continued nursing. It took 3 cycles to get pg with Anthony--the first cycle was anovulatory, the second was ovulatory with a long follicle phase, and the third cycle was the charm.

I was on the pill for 9 years also and it took me 8 months to get pg (I was on clomid and ended up m/c that baby). I got pg with Alex the next cycle. I had some pretty long cycles while we were TTC, one an-O that lasted 70+ days and ended with prometrium.

I went back on the pill after Alex, but only for a couple of weeks and got pg with Abby a couple of months later.

- I ovulated right away both times.

- First time it was the first month trying, 2nd month off of BCP
- 2nd time it was the 2nd month trying, 3rd month off of BCP (m/c this one)
- 3rd time it was the 2nd month trying, 9th month off of BCP

Good luck! I have heard several times that the first few months off of BCP are actually extremely fertile so, IMO, I wouldn't go off too early.

Hi!

I was on the pill for 3 1/2 years. I O'd about 15 days after I went off the pill. My cycles were pretty irregular after that, but they were irregular before the pill too. I noticed that my cycles were longer when I was stressed out. They ranged from 30-57 days. I got pregnant after 18 cycles off the pill.

1) How long were you on BC for? About 2.5 years the first time, the 2nd time I was on the mini-pill for a year and the regular pill for 4-5 mos.

2) How long did it take you to ovulate again? First cycle.

3) How long did it take you to get pg? First time took 7 cycles. We didn't really 'try' the first 3 mos though. I got pg on the one cycle that I charted. 2nd time...well, we're still waiting, but this is only the 2nd cycle trying.

- Both times I went off BCP my first two cycles were 7-14 days longer than my normal cycle - but i still ovulated anyway.

3) How long did it take you to get pg?
- First time at the 8 month trying I had a miscarriage and the next month got pregnant.
- 2nd time i've been trying 4 months

*I never got an O line from fertility friend.

*I stopped taking my pills the end of August, had my period 9/18 and them I was PG. We weren't trying because I never got a line on FF so I didn't think I was ovulating but apparently I was. I can only think of one time that I could have gotten PG that month but it only takes once!
