There are those lucky few - although I think it is a myth!! How about all of you, do you know of anyone that got pregnant while on birth control?
If so...
1) what were kind/type were they taking?
2.) were they using it correctly?
3.) any other factors (meds., etc)?

I was on Yaz (the new yasmin low dose)
I was taking it everyday
I wasnt taking anything else besides my imatrex on occasion......

and the way my doc sounded i wasnt the first Yaz failure

I know lots of people who got pg while on bc---most were on antibiotics, some didn't take pills regularly, and then there's my sister, who was using the patch. She was one day late putting the new one on, and nine months later was the mother of a 17 month old and a newborn!

I've been on bcp for 12 of the last 13 years. My daughter is 15 months old. This month is the only month that I'm afraid I may have been too late in taking a couple of pills, and could possibly be pg, something neither of us wants. DH says to "hush" when I mention it, and I'm praying every 15 minutes to God that I'm not pg. If I am, I am, and it's my fault for not taking the pills correctly. We'll have to figure out where to get the money to keep us from going under by having a second child.

I think the odds are good that there are lots of birth control babies out there. Stats are that 50% of pg's are unplanned---surely there are lots and lots of people using birth control of some sort!

My good friend was on Ortho Tri Cyclen and ended up pregnant...she swears she was taking all the pills and never missed a day...but if you knew her, you wouldn't believe that story. She was also on Asthma medication, and with her asthma always has bronchitus and lots of upper resp. infections, so I'm sure she's been on lots of antibiotics. Stranger things have happened!

Well I'm pregnant and I was using bcp.
I was on the "mini-pill", because I was still bfing my baby. I took the pill every day close to the same time of day. But I was down to bfing once a day. After we found out I was pregnant I did some research and found out that the mini-pill has a 3-8% failure rate (depending what study you read). My nurse wasn't all that surprised that I got pregnant when I went in for my first appt.

I got preg on bcp, and was using yasmin, everyday in the afternoon whenever I got home from uni, and I was also on anti-depressents (lovan)...although I had just come off the flu when I got pregnant so I put it down to throwing up and flu medication...
But hey, my partner and I are happy now, 29 weeks preg

I got pregnant while on bc with my 3rd. I wasn't taking it at the "same time" every day though. I was taking it everyday, just not at the exact same time. My sil got pregnant too while on bc. She was on antibiotics though.

Birth control is effected by medications you take, things you eat and a thousand other factors. I was on Yasmine as well and we're 19 weeks pregnant. Birth control only has a 99.9% rate when taken correctly and has nothing else to interfere with it. Realistically there is a 3-5% chance a woman ends up pregnant in year of taking the people. I took the people for five years before we got pregnant. The longer you take the pill the more likely you are to end up pregnant on it. My doctor said if we didn't want to get pregnant we should have used birth control with something else! So much for warnings

I got pregnant with DD while on the BCP. I think it was antibiotics. And for DS I wasn't on the pill, We were using condoms, Well that one must have been a recalled one because it didn't work...*broke* I knew it was going to happen, I was near ovulation!.

I got pregnant on bc... I had an alarm set on my watch and took it every day at the same time. I was using LoEstirn 24 Fe. The problem I ran into is that it's a low dosage and it eventually stopped my period alltogether. for 3 months I had no sign of anything and then I started feeling ill. For 2 of those 3 months I was pregnant. Never suspected. It has happened many times in my family and since it is full of nurses, I would like to think everyone was using it correctly, but you never know.
