Has he made any progress? Enough that you'd be willing to compromise with Alice that maybe she and the baby stay at home if Geoff can visit?

oh claire! im so sorry you are feeling this way! i hope that you and alice are able to come to a understanding and are able to compromise.

maybe the move will be a good thing for alice, she might not see the side of geof that you do...and once she is living with him it will be clear as day.

but dont think of this as you losing your daughter and grandchild. alice has to make her own choices...even when they may not seem to be the best ones.

for now continue supporting her and giving her all your love, its all you can do.

Oh Claire i am so sorry. I have to agree Michelle i bet she will be back i can't imagine living with strangers after having a newborn, especially with Geoff being that way. I bet under the stress of being a new mum she will see him for what he really is.

Maybe she'll end up changing her mind and find that home (your house) is the best place for her and the baby. But even if she does move out I doubt that she won't want you to have a part in the baby's life.

Well I've just got back from Playcentre and I am feeling a little better. Reading your replies has helped a lot. the counselor tried to tell me that Alice would probably come back yesterday but I was too upset to absorb anything she said at that point.

I feel so many emotions from loss to jealousy. Yes I am jealous, jealous that Geoff's Mum will get to be around my daughter and Grandchild more than me. It does not help that Geoff's Mum and I fell out over his behavior and have not spoken since. It seems that I have a lot of bridges to build before I am comfortable visiting their house.

Could we compromise and let Geoff back in our house? I don't know at this point. I would be willing to work towards this but my husband was very badly affected by what Geoff did. John is a peaceful man and he felt completely violated that this other man had come into his home and threatened his sanctuary. He stopped eating properly and lost lots of weight and had difficulty sleeping for a long time. John has asked only one thing of me - that I stand behind him and do not let this boy in our house. He is scared for the safety of our younger children and he does not handle confrontation well.
Next week John and I have our first counseling session and I hope to be able to discuss with John how he sees our future with Alice and Geoff and work out if there are things that can be put in place that will make John feel safe again. If however John is still unmovable on that point I will stand behind him. He has been through a lot emotionally this year.

I guess I just have to accept that some things are not in my power to change - but why does that feel so hard!

I just wanted to add that yesterday, one of the pieces of news that made me smile was the announcement of Jaime's pregnancy! Fab news. I wish you a fantastic and healthy pregnancy. I can't believe that Melissa is pregnant again with #3 either. I remember eagerly waiting for #1 to pop out of her tummy!

Just follow your heart on what to do. Maybe after the counceling you and your dh will have a clearer look.

Im sure she will 'wake up' and think home is where ther heart is. Don't give up hope. There is always a light at the end of every tunnel and a pot of gold at the end of each rainbow.

She will need you once the baby is here and want to be with you. It is such a difficult situation. It seems that you are dealing with it in the best way possible. We are here for you.
