I took my computer into best buy since it was still under warranty with them. All I needed was my dvd burner replaced. Which I told them that exactly when I took it in. Anyways, they ran their "diagnosistic" for like 3 days and then called me and told me that it works they were able to burn dvds with it.

I went in there after work to pick it up and asked them to show me exactly what dvds they used to burn (maybe I just bought the wrong ones ) Well this wasn't the tech that worked on my pc so he had to start it up. Couldn't get it to recognize the ps2 mouse/keyboard I told him "you should be using usb, ps2 is so old technology" lol Anyways, he was unable to burn a dvd or even read a dvd that was burned with that drive.. r I was so pissed!! I mean why are you wasting my time with running that stupid test when I told you exactly what the problem was (hello I work in IT!!! I'm not stupid) Anyways so needless to say they wouldn't replace my drive right there, they said they had to send it to their service center to get it replaced. OK how long is that going to take (with eyes rollign and all)? 2-3 weeks!! My eyes were even welling up with tears and I had to fan my hand at them (lol, I know you can picture it) I was like. You wasted 3 days of my time, which is down time for me and now you tell me that I have to wait 2-3 weeks before I can get my computer back. I have clients and this is not convenient (but at the same time I really need to be able to burn backups). Pretty much that had no other option so I just said ok and told them that I wanted to be updated every step of the way.

So pissed. So here I am I had to call back 4 clients and tell them that my computer was being fixed, but not to worry I have all photos backed up on my external drive. But I'm really sorry I won't be able to work on photos for 3 weeks to a month. I am totally heart broken and felt horrible about this. Since I know them all pretty well they all said "don't worry about it I can wait" but still!!

Anyways... wwyd in this situation?

I'm borrowing a laptop from work over the weekend so I can atleast order more prints for the one lady. The laptop won't have PhotoShop installed on it so I won't be able to edit, but atleast I'll be able to get the photos off the memory card and look at them.

Eek, Sarah.....yeah, that's something that needs to be fixed. But 2-3 weeks!?!?! Could you find an independent computer tech to fix it faster? Is there anyone on campus that could do it for you? Maybe not on the clock, but offer to pay them nicely if they would do it over the weekend??

Best Buy SUCKS! They have ton of problems. Bad CS too.

Hope its not going to be that long. Maybe call and look around to other places seeing how long it will take to fix that particular problem.

ride their asses. I have heard multiple horror stories about their repair timelines. in fact, i seem to recall a woman won a lawsuit against them when they lost her laptop and lied about it or something. anyway...document everything. dates/times/names of who told you what...when....how...all of it. BB is evil. I am so not kidding.
