Default I'm bleeding...

I went to the toilet before jury service and it was red when I wiped. I am pretty scared. I didn't know what to do. I told the court staff and they said that I could go. By a stroke of luck my midwife's office is next door to the court so I went there and spoke to her on the phone. She said to not worry too much at this point and to go home and rest. If it gets worse or I start getting crampy, then to call her again. I am a bit freaked out though. I won't get an ultrasound until 12 weeks so there is a long time to worry about this. I do see my midwife in a week for my first appointment though.

Please keep my bean in your thoughts & prayers.

You take it easy & don't stress too much. My friend is 16 weeks & she started bleeding around 8 weeks, come to find out it was because her placenta is blocking her cervix. Hopefully they will do an u/s because of the bleeding, just to make sure. KUP Hugs!

If you'll recall, I had bright red bleeding at least 4 times in the first trimester with Joey, starting at like 4 weeks. I was a nervous wreck. Turned out to be nothing in the end.

Well the bleeding has lessened but my cervix is really achey and sore. Not sure if thats a good sign (i.e. the blood was from last nights DTD and the cervix is irritated) or a bad sign. I also have mild back ache but that could just be from lying funny on the bed from the last few hours. You start to over analyze everything don't you when this happens!

Lisa, I honestly don't think that I will get an ultrasound. I guess the best that I can do is to relax and hope that everything is fine. It all feels like a bit of a dream really.

Oh Claire take it easy and make DH do all the chores.
BABY you stay PUT. You have a great mom that loves you already. you will be much happier in 9 months come then.

Sending prayers your way. Hang in there. Just an idea I know it's really early and you want see much but do you have a 3-d ultra sound there. You would have to pay for it but $75 might be worth it so you feel better.

I just wanted you to know that I was thinking about you. KUP! Lay off the dtd for a while, I bet that is what did it. You probably are just irritated down there. Take it easy!

Well the bleeding has completely stopped and my midwife is hopeful that it didn't mean the end of this pregnancy. I feel much better this morning but wish that I was in America where I might get an ultrasound. Katrina, Alice suggested going straight away to pay for a private one but at 5 weeks we may see nothing at all. If I am still worried in a few weeks I will definitely pay the bucks though.

So, because I don't see my midwife until Wednesday, I have a couple of questions. Kristen, you say lay off the DTD, how long for? And I know that this is TMI but I know that John will ask, will it be ok to have an orgasm, or can that still irritate the cervix? Is there anything else that I should avoid after spotting?

I can't wait for my appointment on Wednesday to speak to my midwife now. I don't want to come across as the mad woman that is two minutes pregnant and phoning all the time but I am so stressed about this.

I am spending the day at home, John is taking the girls into work this morning whilst Jake is at school so I can just rest. He's been really great. He also has the week off work next week so that will make things easier and he can be at my first appointment just in case.

Thanks for all your support girls.

Today, I feel in my tummy that things might just be ok.

Hey Claire,

I was always told to lay off the dtd if you have any spotting. I think it's just a safety precaution. I would just be careful until you get to that first apt. I am so glad to hear that the spotting has stopped, that is a wonderful sign.

Claire, I'm so glad the spotting has stopped!

I had several spotting episodes, too. My doctor said no sex (actually she said "Don't put anything in your vagina"...which made me laugh and it lightened the mood) and to rest until the spotting has stopped for 24 hours.

The worst spotting I had was after vomitting several times. She said any kind of straining can irritate the cervix, too. Take that FWIW regarding orgasms.

Keeping you in my prayers!

I'm glad it's stopped! I was also going to suggest not DTD or orgasming for a while. If it were me, I'd stop completely until the U/S in 6 weeks, just in case.

an orgasm can cause uteran contractions.

maybe your cervix was irratated and got a lil vascular...that can cause spotting

i was told no sex from 26 weeks and on....sex threw me into labor but i was ready

i agree w/Amy -- no sex or Os at least until you talk to the dr. I was on 'pelvic rest' the entire first trimester. Never identified any reason for the spotting or bleeding but it was frequent enough tomake me a nervous wreck! Having DTD the night before could very well have been the culprit.

I'm glad to hear it stopped. I had bleeds in my pregnanxy with DS i stopped DTD at least until my next appt and then asked the doc. Usually they would give me an u/s to make sure all was ok.Over here we always get u/s after bleeding.Big hugs.
