What's everyone going to do about child care?

I planning on taking a month off. I can take 2wks of that as paid (vacation/sick leave time) and another 2-3 wks unpaid. I don't want to use all my sick/vacation leave in case I need to stay home with the baby or something happens. I'm saving up enough that I will be able to take off a max of 5wks unpaid and still have money. We just don't know what to do about child care. We both work during the day. I work 8-5/6 M-F and DH works half-days M-Th and full days on the weekends. I was thinking of asking my Mom if she would mind watching the baby for halfdays M-Th, but not really sure what she will say (she works out of her house). Then there's the full day on Friday.

I'm really leary of leaving the baby all day or half day at a facility. I just don't know if I could trust people after you hear about all the child abuse cases.
