Default Big u/s...(again) ;)

I am so excited. I have had several sonograms so far, but we were never able to tell the sex. So I paid for one at my doctor's office. It was $75, which is not too bad. But the tech was behind and only took about 5 minutes to look. The baby was not in a good position, so she just said she couldn't tell. WHAT?!?! I PAID for this...spend a few minutes and try to get the baby to move!!! So I complained to my doctor and they are going to do another one for free. My appt is June 15th. I hope the baby cooperates this time!

My doctor does not have a sono machine in his office, so he schedules them with the doctor next door, who DOES have one (obviousy). That is why I can't get them for free...since that office charges my doctor. Make sense? And he said it is not medically necessary, so he can't charge it to insurance. I have already had several and will have around 10 more that ARE medically nesessary and will be billed to insurance (due to low amniotic fluid), so he won't just do it. OH WELL...at least they are willing to fix it and give me this one for free. I CAN'T WAIT!!!

That's great news Sara. I can't believe that you are just a few days away from the half way point! I am so excited that you are going to get another shot at the big ultrasound soon. I'll be thinking of you that day and crossing everything that baby uncrosses everything, lol.

WOO HOO! I am glad you are getting another one. Does June 15th sound FOREVER away? I am so not patient. Now that I have had mine, and 'allegedly' found out, I am just so happy! (Well, I was happy before, but you know.....the WAITING about kills me. Never could just sit and wait.......)

Two tips for getting the baby to move around during the ultrasound, from my experience. 1 -- drink some caffeine right before (15 minutes is what I did). It made my stomach horribly upset because it was 9:45 a.m. and I hadn't eaten since breakfast, but the baby was awake and moving some. THEN, in an effort to get the baby to move a little from his on the back, belly up position, the tech took the little device she was rubbing on my belly and 'giggled' me, trying to shake him up a little (pretty gently) and it seemed to work. He moved a little more after that. We got to see some arm waves and stretches. Never did come off of his heels, but he had his knees spread enough that she gave us a 90% chance of a boy. The doctor agreed when he saw the pictures, so I figure we are having a son.

Do you have any predictions on gender? Have you scrutinized the prior ultrasound pictures? I did that with my 13 week one but it was IMPOSSIBLE.

Thanks ladies!!! I am so super excited! I will be 21w 1d at this u/s. They wanted me to do it at 22 weeks, but I told them I would be out of town and I asked if I could do it the week before. I am such a bad girl...I won't really be out of town. So they agreed. YAY! I am just SO impatient and didn't want to wait that long. So it is less than 2 weeks. Still seems like forever, but not as bad as 3 weeks!

Claire...maybe if everyone crosses all they can it will have the opposite effect on the baby and s/he will uncross everything! It is worth a shot, right?!?!

Lisa...I drank oj, caffeine, AND ate chocolate before the last u/s! I think I did it about 30-45 minutes before I had the u/s. The baby was moving a little, but the tech just spent SO little time that it really didn't matter I guess. Of course about 15 minutes later the baby was moving ALOT more, so I think I will try eating/drinking an hour or so before the u/s this time. And YES...I have been analyzing the CRAP out of my last 2 sono pics! I have "butt shots" of them both, but not good ones. I have been online looking at all the sono pics I can find and comparing...but I find BOTH...boy AND girl that look similar! So no luck there. I have had a strong feeling that this is a boy. But lately I have started thinking it may be a girl...so I am pretty undecided right now. Which is weird because I was SO SURE Tyler was a boy...and he was. I was SO SURE Haley was a girl...and she was. So I am pretty thrown off with this one. I am leaning a little more toward the boy side though. I guess I will find out in 12 days! At least I better! I will be ordering an amnio if this u/s is inconclusive! heehee... (Not really...don't want the risk just to find out the sex.)

I hear ya. No amnio but damned near anything else.

PS I think you are having a boy too. I don't know why, just my best guess. (After all, it is 50/50 odds, right?)
