We are big pasta eaters and I am quite picky about my pasta and sauce. I have never been a big fan of whole wheat pasta as it usually comes out a bit heavy for my liking. I was extremely surprised and delighted at how great the whole wheat pasta was. It was light and cooked to a perfect al dente. I would definately buy it again.
The sauce had great flavor. I do not usually use a plain marinara/ pureed sauce for anything other than pizza's and lasagna type dishes as I prefer a chuckier tomato based sauce. That being said, for a plain marinara sauce, I thought the Tomato Basil Sauce was quite good. It didn't have that overly sweet taste (sugar) that other jarred marinara sauces have though a similar consistency. I think if they added or kept junks of tomato and added a bit more spice this sauce would be perfect. We added sausage meatballs and I did add a bit of additional spices and cheese after I tried the sauce in it's natural state for my meal. That said, I don't think I have ever not doctored a jar sauce so it stands well against the competition, with the bonus that it is organic, which only would come second in goodness and freshness to the sauce I make from tomatoes and herbs grown in my own garden.
My son is going through a fussy stage, so I was unable to get priceless pictures of him digging in. Below is the dinner plated.
