Scott James Birth Story~
My birth story started on Wednesday and I didn't even know it... ((
HERE IS WHAT HAPPENED WEDNESDAY))
Well Friday I had a doctor appointment and as he was about to check me, I told him that since wednesday I had a lot of fluid flow, but NO contractions. He told me he was sure it was discharge and/or urine and if my water had broken typically contractions would have started within 24 hours. So he starts to check me and immediatly stops, my water IS broken and probably has been for 48 hours. He tells us we need to go directly to the hospital-- NO STOPS!
Adrenilan kicks in and we hightale it to the hospital. (Around 3:00 pm) I get there and they hook me up to the IV and heart rate monitors and start the pitocin since I am not contracting on my own. Then DH runs home to get our things, take our pup to a friends, and get the carseat out of my car and into his. While he is gone they check me again-- 80 % effaced, 2ish cm dilated, and YEP my bag is broken and the nurse can feel baby's head. After the nurse left I lost it and started to cry~ I felt HORRIBLE that my baby had been "unprotected" for so long. I'd had a weird feeling wednesday, but ignored it because I'd felt dumb going in the previous saturday when it wasn't my water. At that point my mom showed up and I started crying even harder (why is it that moms bring out that little kid "cry like a baby" emotion?!) She hugged me and helped me feel a bit better.
By the time dh got back, I was having small contractions. And the doc was getting there to put the internal moniters in to make sure Scotty was doing okay. I was so relieved to see that he was doing good and there was still a good amount of clear fluid surrounding him.
Around 6:00 my contractions were a little bit stronger (still not too bad) but I asked for the Epi. I dilated slow and steady. At about 11:00 pm the doc checked me and told me i was a 5 and that he wasn't going to check me for 2 hours, so to get some sleep and try to relax. At 1:00 they checked me again and I had dilated crookedly due to laying so long on my left side and his head position, but I was close (around an 8). So they flipped me over~ pretty soon I started getting a *weird pressure* but tried to shrug it off. Finally I had dh go tell the nurse. She checked me, sure enough it was him getting ready to meet us.
The nurse gave me a crash course in pushing and we started practicing while the doc got everything ready and showed up. Then the doc got there, dh on one side, my nurse on the other and the doc front and center, I started pushing. 30ish minutes later, at 2:53 AM a teeny little slimy baby came flying out. DH started crying. It was such a magical moment (I'm glad I decided to keep it just us for the delivery). His APGAR was an 8! He had the sweetest cry I've ever heard.
To tell you the truth I actually enjoyed the labor and delivery experience. The IV was the worse part, the epi scared me a bit, but didn't hurt too bad. My doc and the nurses were awesome. We were laughing and joking the whole time. Even durring the delivery the doc and my dh had the nurses and I laughing.
The recovery has been crappy though. Since he came so fast, they didn't have time to stretch me very well. And I ended upi getting an episiotomy (down) and tearing (up). (THANKS GOODNESS for the epi!)

SCOTT IS PERFECT!

I am so in love with him. It is amazing how deeply you can fall in love with someone! Everything about him gives me butterflies. Dh is so in love with him too! (Don't tell him I'm telling you

) But the other day I was taking a nap at the hospital and I woke up to what sounded like sniffles. I looked over and DH was just staring at his son with tears streaming down his cheeks (& Dh isn't a crier).
BF is going well, Scoots picked up on it very quickly. On a side note: my milk came in today and my BOOBS are HUGE!!
Here are a few pics from *birth* day and of my little SCOTT DOT.
