I've got an induction scheduled for Friday morning, but I really don't want it. The whole thing sounds fairly awful. Because I'm trying for a VBAC, my doctor wants an internal monitor for the contractions to make sure they're giving me the right amount of Pitocin. This will mean breaking my water. I fear it will mean I'll also have a catheter and not be able to move around at all, which would make it much harder to deal with the pain without medication (which I really don't want). I had an epidural with my daughter after 14 hours of labor because I hoped it would help me rest and dilate, but as soon as they broke my water and put in an internal monitor there were heart decelerations. They did manage to stabilize things by turning me from side to side, but then my labor slowed down and they had to augment with Pitocin. Eventually it ended up a C-section, probably due to her posterior position (she never seemed to turn). I'm trying to avoid having that happen again. Any advice?
