Hi everyone... On March 3rd at 6:01am - Mikeyla was born!
She's 6 lbs 12 oz, 19 inches long
I went into L&D on March 1st (sunday night) with conractions coming every 5 minutes. They hooked me up to monitors and had me walk the halls, after an hour later, I was dilated to 5cm. They put me back on the monitors and I began having very PAINFUL contractions and dilated even more. So they got me on a light epidural which helped tremendously!!!
I got to 10 cm a few hours later and began to push (3 long pushes at a time with each contraction). I pushed for about an hour and a half. When her head was crowning, I thought it was the END OF THE FRICKING WORLD!!!!! The pain was crazy. I was throwing up in between contractions from not having any food in my stomach. But throwing up felt soo good after LOL. When her head was coming through, the pain was the worst... my god, that was intense. I kept saying: "I cant do it!! I cant do it, no way.. plan B". But my husband (who was holding my legs), the nurse, and the doctor - would not take "I cant" for an answer, and had me continue the pushing until her body slipped out....... WHAT A RELIEF.
She cried right away and was put on my chest and cleaned up while they stitched up my tear (1st degree). They were amazed at me at how hard I pushed, and of course, I was relieved since there was no need for any special tools.
I will post pics shortly! Just waiting for DH to unload them from camera memory stick.
P.S. We're learning how to breastfeed and so far she's only getting colostrum. Getting a latch wrong hurts almost as bad as labor itself. LOL So I am trying my best to keep my nipples intact so I can make it through week 1.
P.S.S. The hospital staff were just amazing, DH was amazing. Yes, I did have accidents during the delivery which my DH did see, and we're still together, so I guess he will live it down after all! hahah
P.S.S.S. (lol) You girls were right about so many things in that FTM thread. YEs, the peri water bottle rocks. hahaha I took one home too.
Well we are home now... yay!
