Big baby, beautiful birth
I've never been a very avid poster but I liked to stick my head in every once in a while. I'll post my birth story as concisely as possible. Our daughter, Irene Alexandra, was born at home on Monday March 10th at 2:21 pm. It was a 12 hour labor. Despite having given birth 3 times before I really felt this time would be the time I never went into labor. It turned out she would be born the day before her due date. At 2 in the morning I started having contractions that finally felt like the real thing and I'd been losing my plug two days earlier. After a few hours things were intensifying and I'd gotten some bloody show. I'd had a couple of contractions where I thought I'd peed myself (which I thought odd as I hadn't really had that problem during my pregnancy). Looking back on it I think my water had started leaking. I called my midwives to come over at about 8:30 and they arrived by 10. Things were progressing and the contractions were nice and strong. By noon I was thinking it wouldn't be long before our little surprise baby would make it's entrance. At 2:21 our little girl was born. I think everyone but me thought she would be a boy. She had a mighty big head and body so it took some doing to push her out. My husband was holding me up as I stood and pushed with all I could. It turns out she was a ten pound 24 inch little but not so little girl. It took us 4 days to finally pick out her name. Congrats to everyone else and pics when I can.
