Parent's Choice Formula - ? for FF Moms
I have used Enfamil Gentlease formula with Presley since switching from BFing and she has been doing fine other than the occasional spitting up. I decided to try the Enfamil A.R. and she did great with it and stayed full longer. No digestive problems at all with either one. She takes more of the Gentlease than she does the A.R. but I'm sure that is from the rice starch in the A.R. formula that keeps her feeling full longer - a + at night, since she doesn't get hungry early in the morning or wake up "starving".
Anyway, back to my point. The other day I was in Walmart to get more formula and they were totally out of all the Enfamil Gentlease and A.R. - can you believe they were out of all types of both the kinds I can use for Presley? Unbelievable. I still had about a half a can of her Gentlease, so I skipped buying more because we were going to a different Walmart the next day in the other neighboring town. I guess I am lucky to have a Walmart in towns on either side of us. Regardless, that Walmart was totally out of all Enfamil Gentlease and A.R. too!!! What in the world was going on?!?! Our grocery stores don't stock a lot of the "special" formulas, so I didn't even bother checking with them and bought the Parent's Choice brand in the Gentle formulation. P seemed content with it; no spitting up or tummy cramps that first day. But OMG the next day, she was spitting up half of her formula at each feeding and very fussy. By the end of the day I remembered that she hadn't pooped and she was so miserable that I used a glycerin suppository to help her poop. My poor baby was so constipated that the BM was barely moist at all and caused her to bleed. She went A LOT!!! and she was so content once she got that all out. It took me two days to finally find some Enfamil and I bought 2 cans so that I wouldn't run out for a while.
Has anyone else had a problem with constipation caused by this formula? I sent their company an email about it and asked about any kind of money back guarantee they might have, since they say they can be compared to Enfamil Gentlease. Since she had gotten back on Enfamil, the poop problem and the hurting is gone again. No more cheap formula, even if I have to drive back to where DH was working to get it - that is where I finally found some (90 miles from home) even after checking back at both our local Walmarts for 2 days in a row.
