Ugh! Thus far, I've been pretty lucky with this pg. Not much nausea, a little tired but not too bad, etc. Yesterday and today have been awful. I feel badly hung over - throbbing headache that gets worse when I turn around and bend over, lightheadedness that makes me feel like I'm going to pass out when I sit down or stand up, and I'm nauseus and shaky. My sinuses pop every once ina while and that really hurts. If it's being aggravated by allergies, it's kind of wierd because it's been raining for 2 days here and the pollen should be pretty low. I've been trying to drink a lot of water (almost 2 litres today so far) and eat well-rounded meals, but it doesn't seem to be helping. Since we're only allowed regular Tylenol, I've been hitting it, and again, no relief. I would love to go get some advil sinus or something - I think the anti-inflamatory + the antihistimine and decongestant would put me straight, but I can't, I just have to suffer
It's really wierd - I'm really hung over, but I didn't have the ! So not fair !
Anyone have sinus problems and natural (non-herbal) methods for relief? At least that way I think I can tame the headache.....
I do a sinus rinse every day to help with my sinuses. It's called a Neilmed Sinus Rinse. I swear by it. It's kind of like a netti pot and it's not the most fun, but it helps clear up your head. I have tons of allergies and this is the only trick that does it for me! That or I boil a pot of hot water bend over it with a towel on my head and inhale the steam!
I'm sorry you feel icky, but I guess it is worth it in the end

Sorry you feel so yucky, Suzanne (especially on mommy's day!). Hope you get some relief soon!
When I was preggers with DD, my ears would clog every morning in the shower and not clear until about lunch time. I was teaching at the time, so it was weird because I couldn't hear myself well so I think I just talked loud every morning until it went away. It lasted about 4 months. Thankfully that hasn't started for me yet!

I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. I know I have a sinus infection and I'm waiting for the doc to call something in. I was going to take sudafed but I went to safefetus.com and decided not to.
Here are some natural things you can do to help:
Hot tea with honey
hot water with lemon
Soup
Sailine rinse with neti pot
Fluids
Spicy foods (If you can stomach it they help open up the nasal passages)
Hope you feel better soon!!
It sounds like you might be having high blood pressure, you might want to go to like walmart or local pharmacy that has one of those blood pressure checkers, unless you have a dr appt in the next few days.
Tylenol sinus is completely ok'd by my doctor, so you may try that. Saline is really good, as well. The other thing I could suggest is to pick up some Shower Soothers at the drug store, throw one of those things in there & take a hot, hot shower. That will open you up too. I hope you feel better soon! If its been raining that much, its more than likely the barometic pressure that's working on your sinuses & making them hurt.

Thank you everyone! I still feel like hell today, so I'm going to give them a shot!
Hey Gin, I'm not trying to kick a gift horse in the mouth, but I got very excited when I saw that your Dr OK'ed tylenol sinus. So I looked up the ingredients on Tylenol.com (acetaminophen and phenilephrine (sp?)) and then looked up the second on safefetus.com, and its a Pregnancy class C. Actually, so is Sudafed, which surprised me because I thought it was a fail-safe. Hmm, we might want to avoid those. Thank you for the suggestions though!
Suzanne, you feeling any better today? I sure hope soo...
(I'm just super sleepy today. DD got up at 1:30 last night and again at 5:30 this morning... she's gotten 3 teeth the past 2 weeks and has one more about to pop through...)
She just went in for her nap, so I think I'll try to catch some zzzzzz's too...

Suzanne, I forgot! Since I get alot of sinus issues this time of year on account of the budding trees....they suggested a saline nose spray like A*rin and plain tylonal. I also have a conditioner that I use in the shower that has alot of mint and pepermint in it that helps open this up, even if I just inhale from he bottle, so maybe sinffin some vicks?
Not as bad as yesterday or the day before, but better. I'm a little nervous though, because I think I know what made me feel better - a bagel. I never eat bagels, but I was hungry (and feeling crappy) 2 hours after I ate my Cheerios, so I stopped through Dunkin Donuts and got an everything bagel, toasted, with light cream cheese. I brought it home and ate it, then finished off some Cold Stone (yummyy!!!) DH picked up for me yesterday (only about a scoop left), and I started to feel better! Headache started to subside and I started to feel a little more grounded and less shaky.
We all know that white bread (i.e. the bagel) converts to sugar in the body, and we certainly all know that ice cream is loaded with sugar, so sugar is my fix? That's really dangerous......
I eat fairly well - I generally steer clear of refined sugars (ice cream) and white starches (bagel), but something in it helped. I eat multigrain bread and veggies and protein, and I had multi-grain cheerios and a few blueberries for breakfast, so I don't think my blood sugar was low (I've never had issueswith blood sugar, even in my last pg), but maybe I'm just much more sensitive to it?
Yup, I was the same way when I was preggers with DD, and it seems to be kicking too. I get headaches if I don't eat the right things, and bread almost always makes it better. (I've been having PB&J for lunch every day this week!). Don't worry too much about the sugars, as long as your not sucking up pure sugar with a straw you'll be okay... seeing as how you eat healthy otherwise.
