Growth scan update...
Hi everyone. Things are still really busy for me, but I am still lurking with much love whenever possible.
We had this months growth scan today at 33 weeks exactly. Little one measured 6lbs 3oz by their estimate, the same as a 37 weeker. This has thrown a dilemma my way though. If this baby was going to be well over 10lbs again I was going to be induced at 38 weeks. However, at current estimations the baby will only be nine and a half pounds if born on its due date. Now I don't know what to do. They do not induce here in New Zealand for big babies alone and it is only because of my blood condition that they are even considering induction. If the baby is under ten pounds I do not want an induction.
I have to decide how much I trust their estimates!
The scans I am having are not the same as normal growth scans, they are more in depth and include body fat ratio measuring of the baby. It is part of a research study to see if they can more accurately predict baby's size. But I cannot get over the fact that with Scarlett they were 2lbs out at 38 weeks and I keep thinking, what if this time is the same?
I have another growth scan at 37 weeks and a midwife appointment the day after. That is when we will have to make the final decision on induction.
I know that several others have been told that their babies are big by scan. It will be interesting to see if the docs get it right with us all or if they are out by a large amount. We should keep track. It will be interesting to compare. I tend to be very negative about growth scans as I have not had accurate predictions with them in the past.
I am sure that someone else had a scan that said baby was over 6lbs at 33 weeks. Sorry but I can't find the post. Give me a shout in this thread and we can compare notes.
Thanks for reading.
Off to catch up with you all now!
