Sue - I agree with you - I think its probably mild dehydration (tears can do that!) Plus, the amniotic fluid changes out every 3 hours, and it's changing 2 cups of fluid - baby
will get his/her fresh fluid no matter what, and your skin will be the first to suffer because its the furthest from the center. The center also holds the vital organs, which the body will protect too. My skin is the first indicator that I'm dehydrated, even before dry mouth!
Try picking up a 1 litre bottle of water, and continuously refill it. I have one in the am before lunch and one in the afternoon before dinner, just to be sure that I'm getting at least 2 litres of water/day. I say try water first, and any kind of mild lotion on the body, but something super super gentle (with no alcohols, fragrances, or soaps) for face, like cetaphil. I use aveeno, but even with aveeno some of it is not necessarily hypoallergenic - you have to read the label pretty closely. The soaps, alcohols and fragrances will irritate sensitive skin and make your problem worse
