I would like some advice on how to break a child out of being spoiled.she cried hysterically if I dont pick her up. She wants me to hold her up all the time. Any help will be appreciated.

at 9months old being held is a need not a want. your daughter isn't spoiled...she just needs your attention. especially at this age with separation anxiety settling in.

I would like to give a alternate view. My oldest child was a very spoiled baby. I could not put him down for a second. When I went to the c=doctor with him and the doctor say how my son was manipulating me at such a young age (he was a 18 months old by the time I got advice) he told me to put him in his crib and let him cry himself to sleep. When I described to him how he would stand up and throw himself down to deliberately try to hurt his self, that I had to pick him up so he wouldn't hurt himself the doctor was even more adamant! He said beak him of it now or I would have big problems with him when he got older. It was a rough couple of months but after he realized that he was not going to get his way any more he settled down and life became much more pleasant. that is not to say I did not still hold him a lot but not all of the time like before. Just my own experience.

My son is like this as well. I learned that is something that is normal. I believe at this age they are too young to be spoiled..JMO

i agree with you ladies.. A child isnt spoiled when they want attention. they just want mommy. Enjoy it because ive heard it doesnt last.
I think thats too young to be spoiled also. Being spoiled to me is when they get everything they want, like toys, and not being made to eat veggies and just have cookies. (TMO)
I also think that if its your first you cant spoil them, you know. So what if you do, your allowed.
One of the ladies at work told me spoiling a child is the joy of having them.

It is perfectly normal for a 9 month old to have attachment issues. That's part of their psychological development as they become more mobile and realize there's more to the world than mommy. At the same time they strive to move more and see more of the world, they are still anxious about whether mommy's safety will stay there. If you provide security when they need it, they grow out of that fear, and realize mommy will always be there as needed but they can still explore. That's exactly what happened with my son - people are amazed at how confident and independent he can be, and he knows I am always available for him to "check in" with. He's not spoiled, he's confident and busy!

IMO 9 months is still an age where they are very dependent on you and like to be close and know that mommy is there. When I did my college course in early education and childcare it was made apparent that as they get that little bit older they extend their boundaries of how far they can be away from you comfortably. So you are not spoiling LO, you are just giving them the attention and cuddles that they deserve !!
