Default Autism has its day in court

Some 5,000 parents are in court this month in a new class action lawsuit that claims thimerosal, a preservative that contains the toxic chemical mercury, and that was found in childhood vaccines through 1999, caused their children to develop autism.

Thimeroal was not removed in 1999...in fact some manufacturers didn't even HAVE a thimerosal-free formula until 2007...just go to the FDA and ask.

Thimerosal was supposedly never in the MMR...but it was up until 2003...just get your hands on a package insert from any Merck MMR from 2003 and earlier.

The CDC, while saying thimerosal has been removed, just voted to make thimerosal-containing flu shots a part of the vaccine schedule for every child, every year.

How safe is something that has to be protected by lies that are readily proveable?

The newest is that autism and mitochondrial disease are not linked. That also is untrue...just read the latest study in American Journal of Biochemistry and Biotechnology 4 (2): 208-217, 2008.

If SheKnows is to know anything, She has to look deeper than a press release for info.

Another important road to autism is discussed in the blog of the Simons Foundation. They give millions to autism research and Jim and Marilyn Simons daughter is on the spectrum. http://www.simonsfoundation.org/news/father-s-advanced-age-feeds-autism-risk

Great. How do you (or DO you?) tell your 45+ year old father, who's looking to have his first biological child, about this?

GrammaKnows-
The info you're citing is pretty major, since the government's main defense seems to be that the autism rate has not gone down since thimerosal was discontinued in 2001. Has the FDA actually stated that thimerosal was not fully discontinued then? That some manufacturers were still distributing vaccines with thimerosal until 2007?
I'd love to know more about this. What are your sources?
thanks!
