My rant for today.. My Dad makes me CRAZY!

**Ugh!** I NEED TO VENT!!!

My sister just called..

My parents are in the process of driving home to PA from MA (an apx 8 hour trip, altogether) . They are moving back here (for the umpteenth time) so they have 2 cars. They slept at a hotel last night and they left there around 6am (why they couldn't sleep in a little is beyond me!)..

Anyway, my dad called my sis from the road to say my mom is exhausted and he's concerned about her driving. He wants my sister (and originally my DH) to drive about an hour or so toward them, meet up with them somewhere, and then drive my mom home. I think it's a dumb idea and my sis is pissed because she's leaving to go out of town at 4pm.

How is giving her a one hour break going to make all that much of a difference?? They are stopping in Scranton, PA to eat soon and he'll "assess" her then. I think she'll say no way and tell us to stay home.

Mind you, I have 4 kids and I'm still babysitting and I have a trailer full of mulch I'm trying to spread today while the kids play outside. DH is laid off for 2 weeks (which is why my Dad assumes he's sitting her doing nothing). He's knee deep in the backyard.. trying so hard to get the landscaping done, get the kids' pool set-up and get play-set built this week. Today he's pouring concrete.. He's gonna be so irritated if I have to do this.

I'll go if I have to go, but I think it's just annoting. This is the kind of stuff my Dad pulls all the time. He always treats us like our lives don't matter and we just sit around watching Maury all day or something. I am SO ready to start my new job and get out of the house everyday so he'll leave me be more!!!!!!!!

Am I being selfish for not wanting to do this?????

I don't think you're being selfish at all. Like you said, it's only an hour away, i'm sure she could make that far.

Tell your Dad tough ****, and tell them to take a long lunch to recoup!

Gas and time are too expensive!

Yikes! I don't think you're being selfish at all. I'm sure after a long lunch (maybe with some caffeine?) your mom should be fine. Just explain to your dad it's not gonna happen.
And don't feel guilty.

Luckily after they stopped, my mom was better. After talking to her, I don't think she had ANY idea what my father wanted us to do.

I'm thankful I didn't have to go.
