Default Jacksons Birth Story

Jackson’s birth story:

I went into the doctor on Genes birthday 10/27 for my weekly checkup and a NST. My pressure was up150/80 and I was spilling protein in my urine. The weird thing was I lost 6 lbs from the previous appt. I had a massive headache and the doctor was concerned. I was sent home on bed rest and told to check my pressures every 4 hours.

In the morning my pressures were still elevated through the night and when I woke up. He sent me to the hospital at that point for evaluation. I had what they called unstable pressures 128/70 one time and 170/100 the next it was sorta scary to thing what my heart was doing. They started a creatinine clearance test and a 24 hour protein test. I had to wait until they were done for diagnosis. In the meantime my headache was getting worse and not responding to Percocet at all. I got started on a Mag drip and they doubled my Labetalol. It brought my pressures down some but not enough.

On Friday the 29th the doctor came and had a talk with me in the morning. I begged him to take me then but he wanted to wait for the test. Last time around I ended up in ICU for 3 days because my pressure would not come down.. I got to eat a little breakfast and then was NPO again so I basically had coffee and a bowl of rice crispies in 48 hours. Not fun for a preggo to be starved but, I was heaving like a fool so I am glad they didn’t let me eat. At 5 pm the doctor came in and said I failed my test miserably which he suspected I would. I called family and posted on the net about Jacks arrival.

We went into the OR at 6:30 and Jackson was born at 7:12pm weighing 7lbs 2oz at 35w5d. He is 21inches long. He was wailing so loud it made my heart sing when he came out. I was really worried about having another preemie. He has the sweetest little face and looks a lot like his daddy. He also is a towhead like my FIL. My husband has/had Strawberry blonde hair as a child with ringlets. Jack has all fuzzy white hair poker straight. I got to kiss and nuzzle him for about 5 min and then my hubby to him to NICU. He is currently on CPAP for some tikipnic breathing but otherwise just fine. I wish Gene left the camera I am dying to see his little face and I am on bed rest for 20 hours due to the IV of Mag they still have running. I also vomited alot and have had 3 differnt meds to control it. Having a second child is different and the same it is weird. You don’t think your heart can love that much again but it does. For now I just get to sit here and sniff the little hat they had on him. I love that newborn scent.

I wanted this time to be different but it was just about the same. However the doctors and nurses are much more customer oriented and I didn’t end up in ICU whooo hooo but the baby ended up in NICU not the transitional care unit. I am still happy with my birth story because it is all mine. I did get my tubal and this will be our last baby. I think my hubby is having a secret party tonight that he didn’t have to get snipped.. LOL. I cant wait to see his pics again. My hubby took the camera home. Booo

THE END
