Default Fetal Movement

A few of us have gotten worried that the baby doesn't move much (including me) but something I remembered recently is that just because you don't feel your baby moving, doesn't mean the baby isn't moving. When I was in the ER and they did the u/s on me, the baby was moving like crazy and I only felt the baby move one time. All the other times I couldn't feel it. Oh, and for the gals that said they only feel the baby on the left side, (including me)...I just felt the baby move on the right hand side for the first time last night! It was cool...

Yeah I only feel flutters most of the time. When I had my ultrasound the baby was moving like crazy but could hardly feel movement. They sometimes say give it to 24 weeks to really be able to feel strong movement. No worries ladies...we will soon wish they didn't move around and kick us so much!

I only in the last 2 weeks have started to really feel the baby move and it's not all the time. He has a pattern,or maybe it's just that I notice it more when i'm sitting still, like around 8:30pm at night. I know when I got my last u/s he was moving like crazy and I never felt it, but that was at 16 weeks. I don't think i'd even felt flutters by then! It still startles me a little when he kicks hard, lol! I can't wait for my dh to be able to feel them too!

I feel very little movement this time and when I went for my u/s the baby was moving like crazy. The tech said I can't feel it because my placenta is anterior (to the front) this time. When I went for my ob visit today the baby was kicking while the doctor was doing the doppler. I told him I can't feel that at all (my son would actually kick the doppler wand!!)

My doctor explained that having a posterior placenta (like I did with my son) is like feeling movement through a shower curtain. Having an anterior placenta is like feeling movement through a mattress.

What is the reason your placenta is anterior? Did the Dr say? Is there even a reason for that? Or why it was posterior last time but anterior this time?
Just curious...

No worries here mine is all over the belly now and very active. Not quite as active as DD was, but I'm just happy to feel the little thumps and kicks and hiccups now.

They just explained that it can vary depending on the pregnancy but either way it's not a big deal.
