Default Bra sizes

Ashley's thread made me think. I am wearing a non-nursing bra size 38D. I went to Motherhood Mat. and tried on a D bra and no luck. I tried on a E and a F. No luck. WTF!? Why is there such a difference? I wear an XL in that store, too. That store just makes me feel so fat. Not that I am supposed to feel skinny, but come on.

Lmao.. I feel the same way!!! I wear an XL in Motherhood but try on an XL in other stores and my pants drop to my ankles!!!

I have bought one extra bra and a "sleeping" bra so I have the 24/7 support I like. I am still wearing my normal bra, just overflowing a bit! DH is loving it except I won't let him cop a feel cuz my nipples are so sensitive!!! Poor guy!!! lol

Okay, I posted and kept thinking...

Other things about Motherhood that annoy me..

80% of their clothes need to be ironed!!!! I don't iron when I'm not preggers, and I sure as heck am not going to start now when I can't even stand close enough to an ironing board to accomplish that task safely!!!!

A LOT of their shirts have gobs of elastic right under the boobs. Looks cute, but they are SO tight!!! I've got enough mashing my gut at the moment, I don't need clothes to add to my discomfort!!!

UGH!!!!

I do not believe that either of you wear an XL at Motherhood!! I've seen your belly pics and you're both smaller than me!!! I think everything y'all have tried on is sized wrong!!

Tiffany, in regards to the bra sizing....have you been actually fitted for a bra? Is it possible that the one you're currently wearing feels OK but isn't really the right size? I'm totally not sold on Motherhood's bra fitting, either. I'd go somewhere that has a lingerie dept where they do it ALL the time.

I was sized for a bra when I was 30-ish weeks pregnant (I think) with Kayleigh and was told that I'm a size 34DD or DDD, depending on the style/fit/etc. I wore those bras through the rest of my pgncy with her, while I was nursing and I'm actually wearing them still. I know that everyone is different, but my guess is that you would have fewer size changes if you really started out in the right size.

My bras are starting to wear out now since I only have 2 of them and I've been wearing them almost every day for the last 2 years, but I'm dreading getting fitted again. It's just a pain. It's so nice to have bras that fit, though, I was HUGELY impressed at the amount of support that I got and I have some seriously big boobs!

Anyway, just my 2 cents.

p.s. I'm not very impressed with motherhood all around, either. And I really hate all the styles with the elastic right under the boobs. It SO doesn't work for larger-chested women and you just tend to be that way when you're pg anyway. Dang it.

You all are making me crack up!

I have to buy XL at Motherhood too! The L are just too tight and uncomfortable. It makes me feel like a huge cow! I know I am already getting big, but it is like they are rubbing it in my face...YOU HAVE TO BUY XL HERE HA HAHA HA HA! Jerks!

You are right about the fitting versus comfy. I was fitted after I had Jet and I was a 36DD. I was still BF though. I am not buying bras from there anymore either. My boobs never all fit on there and I feel like I have to order my clothes from The Ringling Bro's.

Please tell me you're not thinking of going to the tent store Tiff...

The girls suggested Lane Bryant for bigger bras...I know it's the "big girl" store, but they start at 36.

Motherhood is touch and go for me...some of their shirts fit great...others fit terribly.

and what's up with all the strappy dresses? Am i supposed to be pregnant AND in a strapless bra??? I don't think so!!!

LOL!! I know! MHM's shirts aren't long enough for me and the pants are too tight around the waist. lol. I actually wear more regular clothes than mat. LOL. I have checked out Lane Bryant, but I had a hard time finding a comfy bra.

and yes, the tent store. LMAO!!

UGH, Motherhood. Yech. I personally don't love it there. There's an outlet store nearby, so I'll go there for a bargain, but that's it.
I also don't get my bras there. I went to VS on Tuesday (they're having a sale and some of there bras are cheaper than Motherhood right now!) Luckily, I'm not too top heavy, so they had my size. Pre-preg, I'm 36B, and currently, I'm 36C. That's how big they got with DD, so I'm not planning on them getting any bigger.
I like Old Navy for maternity clothes. Their sizes are "normal" and very comfy clothes..no ironing needed lol!

ok This is just too good to pass up, how did you all know that I went bra shopping at Motherhood this week? And I struggled with their size L pants (thunder thighs), maternity bras ( am the proud owner of a pair of 38 D's right now, usually 34C) I went with a gift card and came out with one cotton bra that is a little roomy on the sides but makes my back fat look squishy and gross-Any good maternity stores, bras, etc, that will minimize the 'puffy' look? I did the best I could but feel like I could do better somewhere else...??

WHOO!! I just got a bra from lane bryant. before dd i was a 34c then prepreg this time i was a 38d now i am into a 38DD or DDD/F already, this is scaring me!!!

I have to tell you i know why MHM clothes are wrinkled... (I used to work there..) they are shipped in a cloth tote in individual baggies that are basically air tight!!
I have the same problem with their shirts, but i am living in one of their pants right now.. I mean i wash them more then anything i own.. I JUST LOVE THEM!! i even went in to buy another pair but they oly had xl and i'm a PL (petite large)

My issue with old navy mat clothes is i wash them once and they are faded!! GRR And Mediums fit too perfect and larges are too big!!

Back to Boobies Mine have weigh about 4 lbs each and that's with out milk... WTF!!!

So what dept store does someone suggest for a nursing bra.. GEEZ i hope nursing is easier this time around!!

I totally agree about having to iron majority of the stuff that MHM sells, and I refuse to iron either! I bought one bra there when pregnant with DD, and I will never buy another there...I hated it! They have a bad return policy too. The only time I go in that store is to look at their clearance racks! I know Mimi's and Motherhood are owned by the same people basically, but when I went to Mimi's recently they had nicer bras and they didn't cost much more than you'd pay at a dept store for a regular one. They had ones that looked pretty supportive. As for the rest of their clothing it was the same stuff Motherhood had, but the prices were jacked way up! For a T-SHIRT at Motherhood that they wanted $18 or so for, at Mimi's the same identical shirt was $44!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nuts huh? But the bras were a better selection.

who wants to go bra shopping every month? that is where I am at.... went from a 34B to a 34D, DD now... I have heard if you go to stores like Nieman Marcus and some of the other large pricier stores, they have some wonderful bra fitters. I think this is my next step.... I am having some problems with keeping them where they should be now. Right now I would pay just about anything for a few great bra's

Motherhood isn't my favorite store that is for sure. I am short waisted so most of their maternity tops are way too long on me, not to mention their pants! Only some are petite and even they are too long!! GRR. I just bought two pairs of jeans there and I swear they are at least 2-3in too long. I must have them shortened.

However, to add something good about Motherhood, I do love their secret fit belly (COMFY) and their bermuda shorts fit my inseam GREAT!!!

Target is one of my favorites. Their tops fit great, even their pants, and I LOVE their bras!!! So comfy and with their prices I can buy a few and they last me for a while!!

I really love Kohl's for maternity tops, too. When they have a sale their prices are great (I would rather pay less than $16.99 for 1 top, but thats just me) and comfy too. I also just bought two maternity cami's and one pair of lounge shorts -- all three less than $6 with their recent sale and all very comfy!!!!
