I am so so sorry for the loss of your beloved golden!! I am crying reading the story of his passing. We too had a golden named Joshua who died in our back yard. I think we should have probably put him down sooner but you know how hard it is to do this and you just can't guess what is happening to them and you go back and forth about what to do. Joshie, in the end, let go and we were then able to let him go as well. We had another dog at the time, a border collie, who was like a brother to Josh and he missed him so much. He sat in that yard for days and wouldn't move or eat. We feared for him as well but he eventually came around.
It's hard to lose our beloved pets and I'm so sorry that this has happened. Goldens have a lot of character and bravery and loyalty. I know.
