I went to work Wednesday morning, felt awful - fever (100.2 when I left home), chills, being queasy..the whole fun package. Called dr around 9, had a temp of 100.9, she told me I needed to go to the hospital. Came home, changed clothes, dh & I went up to the L&D dept of the hospital - got stuck in the antepartum unit. Got hooked up to a fetal monitor (discovered baby HATES that thing. Instead of resting and letting it pick up her heartbeat, she spent 90% of the time kicking the crap out of it. All the nurses were amazed at how fiesty of a 24 weeker she is), got an i.v. placed, blood drawn and hooked up to fluids. Nurse wanted me to give a urine sample, but didn't have to go right then. Finally went, dr. came in a few hours later, said it was +2 for bacteria and it had moved into my kidneys...so I would have to stay 48 hrs without a fever before I could go home. All the nurses were super nice, but the hospital food was GROSS!!! Dh made runs to Chik Fil A, Wendys and Sonic for me

DH spent both nights with me there on an uncomfortable as all heck cot, nurses came and went every 3-4 hrs to check my temp, bp, and baby. All stayed fine, THANK GOODNESS. Blood pressure was fairly low (lowest was 113/67), but temp was normal. So glad to be home. Hospital beds are uncomfy!! And I really missed my cat and all 8 birds.
And...I failed my 1 hr GTT.

So, I have to make an appt in about 2wks to do the 3hr one, but I've already started to get comfortble with the fact that I have gestational diabetes, so we'll see. I go in 2wks, then in 4wks, then every 2 weeks after that!
I'm off work until Tuesday, have a "no-lifting" restriction on my discharge papers, but am feeling much better. Dr. said if it happens again to let her know and she'd send me right back to the hospital - I hope I don't end up back there until late august/early september!
