With 1st, water was leaking for my entire three days of labor....a slow leak. I was a week late.
With my 2nd, I was a week late, and water broke and gushed...and continued to gush until I got to the hospital (15 min away) and I delivered only an hour or so later. I had walked for 5 hours that day at an amusement park and after I got home, put on my jammies, and made a bowl of ice cream...is when it broke!!! No, I did not get to eat the ice cream!
With this baby, I'm already walking 2 hours a day. When I get to 36 weeks (in mid August) I plan to start walking 3-4 hours a day. Yes, my knees will hate me!
My advice, start walking vigorously from 36-37 weeks on. As much as you can. I firmly believe exercise (especially walking) gets labor started and can also help your water break. It will also help you efface and dialate prior to labor so labor is easier. Studies have shown that the more you exercise during your pregnancy the easier your labor will be.
