Sk October Newsletter
There is just something special about October.
The leaves have already begun to change to deep reds and vibrant shades of orange, the crisp fall air has us pulling on sweaters and mitten in the morning but by afternoon we are trading them in for t-shirts and shorts. The Canadian Geese are starting their trek south so it's not uncommon to see hundreds of them flying over the house.
I just love hearing them honking the "directions" to each other.
I wonder, do you think any of them asking are males?
For us Canucks it's almost Thanksgiving so our minds are already programed to start planning what yummy goodies we will be serving our families and what special traditions we will be adding.
Fall won't last long so make sure to get outside and enjoy it!
By the end of the month we will be bundling up our little ones in snowsuits under their halloween costumes!
October 4th Child Health Day
October 8th National Children's day
October 9th Leif Erikson Day
October 11th Columbus Day
Thanksgiving (Canada)
October 16th Sweetest Day
October 16th national Boss Day
October 24th Mother- In- Law Day
October 24th United Nations Day
October 31 Halloween
After tallying up our SheKnows readers' input for our final SheKnows Book Club book of the year, we're delighted to announce the book with the most votes is our October/November pick - the last book we'll be reading and discussing for 2010:
Life After Yes by Aidan Donnelley Rowley
This is the story of Quinn—born Prudence Quinn O'Malley—a confused young Manhattan attorney who loses her father on that tragic September morning that changed everything. Now, at an existential crossroads in her life, Quinn must confront impossible questions about commitment and career, love and loss. Her idealistic beau desperately wants a wedding, and whisks her away to Paris just to propose. But then Quinn has a dream featuring judges and handcuffs and Nietzsche and Britney... and far too many grooms.
Suddenly, her future isn't so clear. Quinn's world has become a minefield of men—some living, some gone, and traversing it safely is going to take a lot more than numerous glasses of pinot grigio.

is whitewinterose over at Pagan Families!!
Hi! I'm Victoria and a SAHM to 2 handsome little boys, John-Douglas (2/11/09) and Ptolemy (6/22/10)! I joined SK before my oldest was conceived as I was going through the trials of trying to get pregnant with PCOS and endo, and dealing with multiple miscarriages and then an ectopic pregnancy, all following when I was finally told I was in remission for Ovarian Cancer. Being on here I have made many MANY great and treasured friendships. And I know that if it was not for the girls on my boards, I would have lost my mind going through all the pregnancy scares and while being on bedrest for both boys! I cloth diaper both my boys, and am looking forward to homeschooling them when they get older!
I am a proud Pagan mom who tries to honor nature in all that I do. I am very spiritual, read Tarot, teach and mentor others about Paganism, and am honored to be called to serve the Goddess. I am also a trained herbalist, and strive to help people find a more natural approach to different ailments. I love to garden, decorate the house, play with my boys, spend time with our feline children and spend time outdoors hiking, camping and working around the yard.
I currently am a hostess/co-hostess for Born in March '09, Cloth Diapering, Pagan Families and Bed Rest Support. I look forward to chatting with many of you around the boards!
Victoria!!
Here is a little bling to add to your siggy!
*If you would like to nominate someone to be Host of the month, please submit to crisantemo or littlemisscant , who you would like to nominate and why. Don't forget to leave your name as well, so we can give proper credit. You may only submit one nomination per month. Should there be more than 1 nomination per month, I will choose one. If your person is not chosen, I will keep the nomination for the following month. We are also entitled to nominate one person per month.
 Pagan Families:
Pagan Families is a board for those that enjoy a Pagan lifestyle, or those that are willing to learn and understand a fellow spiritual/religious path. "Paganism" itself is a broad term for multiple spiritual paths, and here at Pagan Families we love to discuss different ideals and share ideas about each of the different holidays we celebrate. Most Pagan paths have a very nature based feel, with a reverence for the Great Mother. We are a very open and welcoming group and love to share our knowledge and information. It is only with knowledge can others truly understand and accept the different faiths, and I like to believe that this group will allow others of like minded beliefs or those that want to learn to join and feel safe without judgement. Currently the board is a bit quiet, but with one of our biggest sabbats (holiday) approaching, I hope you all will pop in and take a peak. Take a minute to look through some of the information, or even ask some questions. You don't have to be Pagan (or want to be) to learn about it and get to know some great people.
