Re: Since I have een out of a loop...
I have not gained much but I am a little one the large side anyway. I am only up 10lbs, but I am still walking/jogging and lifting. You look tiny so 30 is not bad.

Re: Since I have een out of a loop...
ive gained 23, but 30 is not outlandish at all... the recommended is 25-35, so as long as you dont go hog wild in the last couple months id say you're right on target

Re: Since I have een out of a loop...
My midwife told me that your weight gain is pretty much genetic. If you find out how much your mother gained while pregnant with you, you'll probably gain a very similar amount, unless you make drastic attempts to alter it (i.e., eat Ben and Jerry's every night or train for a marathon while pregnant).
I've gained 60 pounds with each pregnancy. This time, I've gained only about 25 so far, but that's because I never lost all of my pregnancy weight after my son was born, so I was a lot heavier when I started.
If your doctor isn't worried, don't let anyone else get you worked up. People are very opinionated and feel like it's their job to share those opinions with you.
A good response is something like, "I'm so lucky to have you in my life. You are so wonderful to be concerned about my health. My doctor and I are working together to make sure this pregnancy is as healthy as it can be."

Re: Since I have een out of a loop...
I have gained 31 from my first OB appointment but I gained 10 lbs before that with all the meds. I gained a similar amount last time and had droppped 30lbs by my 4 week check up so I'm not too concerned. Don't let it bother you.

Re: Since I have een out of a loop...
Everyone is different. Very different. And I too believe that to a degree that it is genetic. Neither my sister nor I put on alot of weight when we are pregnant & I eat pretty much whatever I feel like.
I am another one that was a little larger to start with, & I am currently up 11lb from my lowest weight this pregnancy, & up 4 1/2lb from my pre-pregnancy weight.

Re: Since I have een out of a loop...
I have gained 28 pounds at 30 weeks, 5 days. I think you and I were probaby about the same size before we got pregnant and this is both of our 1st babies. Plus, Amy is about the same, too, and in the same boat. No worries! Like they said, everyone's different! I worried about it, but asked my doctor and she did not seem concerned at all. She said that I technicaly didn't need to gain more than 30 pounds, but average was 25-35 pounds (total).

Re: Since I have een out of a loop...
Don't feel bad. I am at around almost 40 pounds. I think if you are underweight to begin with, it is pretty common. I gained a total of 55 pounds with DS and lost all of the weight quickly afterwards. As long as you are feeling healthy and eating healthy, that is all that matters.

Re: Since I have een out of a loop...
I've only gained about 10 pounds this pregnancy. Granted, I was not at a goal weight to begin with, so it works itself out. I'm sure the weight is just redistributing itself...hey, take as much off my butt and put it towards the baby
Before I got pg, I would have liked to lose about 60 pounds or so...that would be nice The one time that I was at a good weight and then got pg (with Haddon) I gained 60 pounds in his pregnancy...it sucked! Dh and I are thinking that this might be our last (we'll see), and I really want to work at losing weight after she's here!

I'm with you Nicki! I have gained about 20 from my initial OB appointment but gained 10 with the IVF meds. I thought I was the only one who gained pre-pregnancy...wasn't sure if it was due to stress or side effects of the meds? In any case I feel pretty good about my weight gain...I'm 5'9" and seem to be carrying it all in my belly...no swelling elsewhere and my face is still fairly slim. I'm looking much better pregnant than I ever expected since I was overweight to begin with. It almost makes me want to be pregnant all the time because it's the FIRST time in my life I haven't given a crap about what people think of me or about what I eat. I'm just glad I was on weight watchers and lost 21 lbs. before I started my IVF cycle. I'm sure that made a big difference in how I'm feeling and looking now.

Re: Since I have een out of a loop...
Well I was SUPER sick the first 5 months and LOST weight. I am only up 6 pounds this time around... but I gained 50 with my first DS and 25 with my DD. If your Dr. is fine with it then don't worry, it WILL come of with a little work

Re: Since I have een out of a loop...
I've only gained 16 lbs so far, but I was higher than I should have been going into it and i lost weight for the first 4 months. Like the other girls said, if you're healthy it doesn't matter.

Re: Since I have een out of a loop...
I'm still down 5lbs from my starting weight (up 7 from my lowest point this pregnancy), and my MIL is making the opposite comments, fretting that I'm not gaining enough. You'd think she'd have figured this out by now, since I "broke even" when I was pregnant with my perfectly healthy, 7lb 10oz DD - I weighed the same at my last prenatal visit as at my first, and I don't expect this time to be much different.

Re: Since I have een out of a loop...
I think people should keep their comments to themselves...I have heard some nasty comments throughtout this preg. Sch as "WOW youre enormous, are you sure youre not having twins?" How rude...
Then there are the sweetians that say "wow, youre ALL belly." Thanks to the complimentary companions!

Re: Since I have een out of a loop...
I gained 22 and am at 30 weeks. I don't think 30 is bad at all... But you are little to start... I started off a bigger, so I've been watching (minus the 2 cookies I just ate hehe. I was afraid of gestational diabetes.. but since the 3 hour came back good.. i have found icecream!!
You are fine.. don't worry what others say.. how much did they gain?? I would just say a rude comment back to them!

Re: Since I have een out of a loop...
I am with you Megan about the nasty comments. I am usually nasty and say something like, well at least I am making a baby not a big poop. My FIL said wow your belly is so big, and I say I know I may need to borrow your pants.
And then there are the nice people who can't belive that I am as far along as I am, I love them.
I am so glad you are back!!!!!
