Default I need dinner ideas

Tomorrow night, we are having some friends over for dinner. I'm trying to think of something easy that I can make ahead and not have to be really cooking when they arrive.

I thought about making some stuffed shells. I could do that ahead of time and then just put it in the oven...serve with salad and garlic bread and we're done.

Is this something that sounds good to eat when it's so hot outside? Granted, we are in air conditioning, but do you think it sounds like a good summertime meal?

I'm not up for grilling and all the sides that go with that.

Oh, and Tums will be on the side since it will be me, plus two of my pregnant friends, their husbands and the parents

the only other thing I could come up with is something in the crock pot..

I sometimes do like a pulled chicken for fajitas.. you could do that and set out like a taco bar?

One my favorite things to make is a pasta bake that I got out of southern living. It is really good and can be made ahead of time. Not too different than what you are fixing. When I am having guest I usually serve it with salad and garlic bread. Always a huge hit. I will put the link below.

The only other easy party food I like to fix is kabobs (chicken, sausage, bell peppers, mushrooms, onions). I put them in a grilling basket instead of on sticks to save time. Usually serve it with wild rice out of the box. I know you don't want to grill but I thought I would throw it out there anyway.

Definitely! Perfect summer meal! Makes me want to change my menu for tonight! Wonder if I have time to make it before the company gets here?!?
