Icon5 DH and time off

DH has 40 days of vacation saved up. I by no means need or want him home for 40 days. So he is putting in his leave packet with his command for two weeks off. That's more than enough isn't it? I would think that between him and my mother I would get all the help and then some when she gets here. How much is everyones DH/SO taking off?

I asked dh to just stay with me while I'm in the hospital. Once he gets me home, he can go back to work and my mama will be here to help me. (I'm sure he'll need a break from both of us by then!) Plus his job is suppposedly ending in October, so he needs to put in all the hours he can until we know for sure something else will come available. There's no way I could have him home for 40 days straight either...we just love each other way too much for that.

My dh won't be taking any time off. Of course, once I have the baby, he'll work from home to be with the kids while I'm in the hospital. Once I'm home though, he'll head back to work. He might go in a little later and come home a little earlier to help me out....but with his job, his work doesn't stop just because his wife has a baby

And I like it that way...it allows me to get into my own routine with the new baby without feeling like he's looking over my shoulder!

My Dh cant take of very much since it will be football season and he is the OC. He may take off a Monday or Tuesday and then leave home to head to school for practice in the afternoon, but there is just no way he can miss a Thursday or Friday!! So our plan is for him to do a couple of Mon. & Tue. with us before he head to practice. That will be it!!

My dh gets 3 weeks of baby leave, but honestly, after the first week, he is looking for something to do. He isnt one who likes to sit at home. I think 2 weeks will be plenty for your dh to take off!

Yeah, two weeks will be plenty! A perfect time for daddy to bond with baby, and it is nice to have them home right at first. Especially on your first baby. You guys are "learning" how to be a family and will be really nice to have him there.

With our first baby, dh and I both got up in the night every time DS woke up. It was such an exciting time for us, we actually waited for him to wake up.....so it will be nice for your DH to be sleep deprived, too and not have to go into work.

we have a different situation over here, DF just lost his job in june and we're kinda thinking he's gonna wait til a while after the baby is born to look for another (there isnt much work around here anyway), that way i won't have to be alone when i go into labor, hes always here!

we dont really get sick of each other, seems like if we need a break from each other we can just co-exist for a few hours then we are fine again

I think 2 weeks would be awesome. My dh will probably take a week or just under - depending on what day things happen. I'm sure my mom and MIL will be around too and friends and stuff, but I would rather have dh there to help me with stuff.

My DH has taken 2 weeks off w/ both of our girls, and it's almost too much. After the first few day he starts all these projects on the house. With this one, his job is too crazy, he'll be w/ my when the baby is born, but I'm having him go into work the 2 days that I'm in the hospital, and then take off 2-3 days when I come home. I really try to get our family into a routinue and soon as possible, and that may be easier w/ DH at work.

I think DH has over three weeks of vacation saved up but I don't expect him to actually take off more than 1-2 weeks at the most. He may wind up using some of his time to take off early after that or to pick up the girls from school if I need him to.

I dont know if my DH is takeing any time.. His job is so flexible that he can stay home or go in whenever, except on Sundays.... It will be nice to have him hear when I need him and then send him off when he starts to get annoying..

Dh has 2 weeks paternity leave here, then will probably work from home quite a bit too.
We're nervous about me lifting Layna too much with my c-section

I guess I must be over emotional. When DH told me he only took a week off I flipped out. I want him home for two. I'm more concerned about Colin and what's going to happen with that. I'm a raging b**ch when I'm sleep deprived. I want him home to get up with Colin in the mornings and help with that. It's not like he's going to be getting up with the baby and breast feeding him.

DH is going to take off the entire time I am in the hospital. He will probably also stay home the first day we are home from the hospital. After that he may take a day or two sometime over the next couple of weeks but that will just depend on what is going on. I will have my mom in town for a week so I will have a lot of help. When my mom goes home his parents will probably come in for a little while. I would like him to be home the first day they are here just to mediate a little until we all get into a routine.

I think a week or two is awesome to take off!

As for me, I'll need ALL the help I can get when the twins arrive. I'll most likely end up with a c-section and with all the other kids to care for, and recovering from a c-section and all, he'll be here for 4 weeks to help me out. I'm sure I'll need it!

This is the first time DH will be off for longer than my hospital stay, and I can't say I'm realy looking forward to it! LOL. For us, life has always gone back to normal very quickly once baby comes home, and I'm a little worried that he'll be in the way of that. But he's finishing up a big job now and then doesn't have anything lined up so he could be home a while this time around.

DH can't really take much time off. He'll be with me for l & d then the day we bring home baby. We've planned on having people in and out staying with us for a few weeks surrounding the birth so I am relinquishing control and letting people help this time around. It's going to be tough
