DH and I CANNOT agree on a name!!
We are having a heck of a time naming this little girl.
I want something girly and unique, DH wants a more popular, mainstream name. We've sortta taken turns naming the kids. I got "Cohen", and he got "Ashley". I was hoping he'd just let me have my way this time... but he isn't . Originally.. our deal was... if we found out the sex, (something I didn't wanna do, but he did) that I'd get to name the baby. Of course.. he has "forgotten" we ever had that convo now. figures...
I was looking at names online tonight and he vetoed all of them! I'm really mad, b/c I didn't get to veto Ashley. He liked it... so that was it. I wasn't a huge fan, but that didn't matter to him. Granted now.. she's totally an Ashley.. but still... I'm throwing out good names and he's being an a**!!
Here's an example of my choices (all of which he hated)
Lacey
Ainsley
Sophia
Stella
Macy
He likes... Brooke... it's not that bad. I'm just not a huge fan. And moreover... I *REFUSE* to let him pick a name that I'm not 100% in love with... AGAIN!!!! It's not fair.
Maybe it's the hormones... but regardless... I'm just so ticked at him. It would be different if he wasn't being such a jerk about every name I suggest, but he's not. Every name I bring up he has some samrt a** comment about it. He acts as if I'm suggesting we name her Apple, or Mango!!
Anyone else having issues with their DH and names??? Or is mine the only one being a dick??
we're in the same boat..
we were last time too.. layna was 9 hours old before we named her..
we went in with a couple names and decided what suited her

Yes we're in the same boat. My faves right now are:
Sophia
Alaina
Alexa
He doesn't like any of them. And he's not coming up with any sensible alternative either. But I seem to remember he was this way with #1 and I just wore him down till he agreed. So now I just need to pick the one I really love and start personalising things with it!!
That sounds like my DH to a "T"! I like names that are a little more different... Like Piper, Calla, Kenley, etc. but he vetoed all of them. He likes more classic names like Brooke, Amanda, Sarah, etc. I was really pulling for Kenley, but DH hated it, and we FINALLY agreed on Jacey. I can't believe he actually said ok. Now the fight for a middle name begins....
FWIW, Stella, Sophia and Macy were on my list, too!
We have such similar taste! Lacey, Macy and Stella were on my VERY short list also!
I totally KWIM about different tastes. My dh and I have them also. He loves Brooke also (which I have to admit I do too), but he loves Katherine, Ella...just more classic names. (altho I like Ella also...just wasnt right for my baby).
I can't BELIEVE dh agreed on the name I liked actually. I never thought he would go for it since it was more "my style".
Point being...I think you *will* agree on something eventually. Just keep on brainstorming and keep on mentioning the names you like. I bet he will get more used to them. I just started calling this baby by her name and it grew on him. Now he loves it!
Good luck!

Ashtyn (I have a niece named this)
Erin (classic name...my sister's!)
Tatum (like this one too)
There's a few for ya...

This is as good as it gets...at least they are all in the picture!
I am in the exact same boat! My dh and I are complete opposites. Being a school teacher, it drives me crazy to have 4 of the same name in my class. I want something very unique that you would only hear once every few years. My dh has no problems (and actually likes) the very common names. It has been an ongoing battle in our house since we found out it was a girl. We already had a boy name picked out. Pretty ironic! We couldn't agree on a name for ds until we were about to leave the hospital and they were pushing us to fill out the birth certificate. I do NOT want that to happen again! So bring on the suggestions!!!

My DH won't even discuss names, you at least you're ahead of the game.
There's a girl in my kids' music class name Maeve. I kind of like that.
I think if you keep your eyes open you'll find something you like. My DH and I have taken to reading the credits after the movies to see if any of them click with us.

i feel so much better knowing im not the only one in this boat!!!
DBF wont even discuss names unless i force him to, we've agreed on Caitlyn Hope but i'm not head over heels for it.
I liked Reagan and Brynleigh... he said Reagan sounded like a porn star and when i said Brynleigh he gave me a dirty/confused look and never said another word about it.
I'm still in love with the name Reagan tho!!
(He also vetoed Romaine, that was my grammas name who i never met, she died a year before i was born)
I guess i should just be greatful that we're pretty much decided on Hope as a middle name, thats my grammas name so im okay with that.
I am lurking but got a kick out of this...this one was by far our hardest to name. He has always wanted Sidney for a girl...but I hate the nn Sid. He hated anything that I picked out. Then one day I was on nymbler.com and it spit out Emerson for a girl. I half jokingly took it downstairs to him and he said "that's it, I like it" We changed it to Emersyn to make it a little more girly. Then came the hunt for a middle name. I wanted something classic and girly to go with Emersyn. Eventually we agreed on Cecilia. My point is that I think eventually the perfect name will hit you. GL

Men! Sounds like alot of dhs are that way....mine included!
He was vetoing very name I suggested, but not yet providing any names of his own. Finally, I just decided that I really wanted to name the baby Wyatt. Dh didn't hate it but he didn't love it either. I reminded him that he really named our first son and it was my turn. Besides, I'm the one carrying and delivering the baby! He finally just gave in. lol
You'll get the right name eventually, just try not to pull your hair out in the mean time. lol
hehe.. I am lovin your list.. Stella is so freakin cute! Levi vetoed that one off my list also. We have always been in the same situation.. I like differnet names..and DH likes mainstream.. he always wins. For the most part we agree on a name but its usually one of his. I had Eden and he didn't like it.. so we had to compromise and I got Sophia.. he got Danielle.. its not that easy when you aren't naming 2 though .
The only name I won was Garrett.. so good luck honey. hopefully whatever you 2 decide on.. it will be decided on together.
Let me also add that when I was pg last time with Jamison...it felt like FOREVER before we settled on a name. The whole time, I kept saying...I like Jamison...and he would respond...I don't I would badger all of our friends...don't you like the name Jamison??? and everyone said they did, and it eventually wore on him I let him choose the middle name, so he had some input!

I am stealing names from you ladies! I just called DH and suggested Macy and he didn't immediately come up with anything negative to say about it so it's on our possible list- it's really pretty.
Add me to the list! DH gets an name and sticks to it, no changing his mind AT ALL. He vetoed EVERY girl and boy name I suggested, (yes, Sadie, Stella, Chloe were on that list. He also vetoed every boy name, Nicholas, Benjamin, Joshua) I was half joking when I suggested Brady for a boy as he is a HUGE patriots fan, well it stuck. For a girl I was laying on the couch one night and suggested Alexis/Lexi and he liked it! He's still not sold on her middle name but until he sugests something better I win

Re: DH and I CANNOT agree on a name!!
At least I'm not the only one. LOL
I liked Ella too, but he also vetoed that one!! And Macy.... I *kinda* stole from my sister. She wants Mazie if she ever has a girl, and Macy is sooo close to Mazie... if by some chance DH changes his mind on that one.. my sister will be PISSED!!!
As for middle names.... we always go with a family name. We've taken turns, and this time it's my turn. (Cohen has my dads middle name for his middle name, Ashy's middle name was DH's Great G-ma's name) so... this one will get a name from my side of the family. I haven't decided one which one yet. We have a few to choose from; Irene (my mom;s middle name), Renee, (my sisters middle name... and cooncidentally.. DH's older sisters middle name too) or Catherine.. my middle name. Whatever we decide on for a first name... we'll just pick whichever middle name sounds best.
It's funny b/c with Cohen... I had a ton of girl names picked out, Riley, Regan, Kendyl, Tatum, Quinnlyn (call her Quinn)... and when we found out it was a boy... we had the hardest time coming up with a name. It was litterally the night I went into labor we thought.."What about Cohen??" We weren't 100% sure, but after he was born.. it just fit. With Ash.... we got home from my u/s appt and I sat down with the baby name book. Assuming we'd have the same issues agreeing on a name for her... I thought we'd better start looking ASAP. Well... I got as far as "Ashley", and that was it. DH loved it and no amount of arguing was going to convince him otherwise.
It seems we are having the same issues this time. I really don't like any of my girl names I had for Cohen and Ash for this one. And I stupidly suggested Brooklyn a month or so before we new the sex, and he liked it. I was wanting it for a boy, not a girl. {ugh} He said..."If you can tell me a better name than Brooke... I'll go with it. But so far.. I haven't heard one." GAAAHHHH!!!! Guys suck.
I want a name you don't hear that often and he wants just weird names. The last name is 11 letters long, so I'm trying to pick a short name. Some names that I have thrown out are: Kira (for some reason I love this name), Jade, Jada, Destiney, Mariah and names he throws out are Cassandra, Natasha, Marissa, Mackenzie, Daisy, Dolly. The last name he picked was Allison. I like Ali/Aly but not Allison. We made a bet to a coin toss. I lost and the 2 days later I told him I hated that name. LOL So now we are back to square one. He's out of town right now, so when he gets back and we start talking names again, I'm gonna bring up Ali, but spell it, Aleigh. Dumb or no? His middle name is Lee, so it's just spelled a girls way.
And I thought I was the only one having naming problems.
I like Brooklyn for a girl. But then again, I like the name Brooke too, it was on our list. :o) It sounds to me like you guys need to veto everything you've come up with and try and come up with one you can agree on. To make it fair. Maybe you can both come up with a NEW list of 10 names and see if you have any that match.
DH picked out Colin Jason so I get to pick this one, but he's agreeing with everything I choose, making it very easy.

Zqueen- what about Alyssa or Alicia? Actually we normally choose the name based on nicknames so Alaina and Alexa are both on my list because I like Allie (or Lexi or Lainey depending on what we go with). I like Alyssa and Alicia but DD#1 is called Elise so I am trying to avoid anything too close to that.
