UGH! Husbands
My husband and I had our first argument over buying things for the new baby today. I only want 3 new things for the baby. A double stroller for both kids, a new infant car seat, and vibrating bouncer. Well he doesn't think we need any of those.
I am kind of upset over his reaction to my wanting these things. I just can't convince him that I want a few new things for this baby to have of her own. I don't think we will ever agree.
Am I wrong to be upset by this?
Thanks for letting me vent ladies.

Re: UGH! Husbands
That sounds totally reasonable to me - even a bit frugal since you are having your first little girl. Maybe if your DH is concerned about money, you can register for the items somewhere and casually mention it to a few people.

Re: UGH! Husbands
I agree that you are being VERY conservative with those requests! I know that if I was having a girl... OMG... I would be going all out. okay.. who am I kidding- I am having my 2nd boy in 3 years- and I bought all new bedding, tons of clothes, a new double stroller, and car seat and will be purchasing new furniture.
You should put those things on a registry for sure though if it is something you REALLY want- then if you don't get them- look on ebay OR just fight it out! lol

No you aren't wrong. I don't see how he can't agree to at least the double stroller. Your Ds won't even be 2!! I agree with Leah, he's lucky you aren't wanting more since it's a girl!! I know I went crazy when I had my first girl.

I don't your wrong for being upset. I would be upset too. Thankfully my dh is great about letting my buy whatever I think we need. Of course it helps that I pay all the bills and take care of the checkbook so I know how much money we have.

Re: UGH! Husbands
Maybe you could compromise? A double stroller may be a necessity, and the vibrating seat may be really nice to have if you dont already have one. But perhaps you could re-use your old carseat as a compromise? Ours will be on its 3rd baby and is still as good as new, so that may be one thing you could compromise on.

Re: UGH! Husbands
I haven't asked for anything new yet and mine will be close together too. I don't think you are outrageous. Stick to your guns.

Re: UGH! Husbands
I don't think those are unreasonable requests. Perhaps it would help if they were spaced out a bit so your budget doesn't take a hit all at once.
I still have my son's old bouncy seat, but we are going to need a new one as my son liked it so much that he would use it as a lounge seat when he was older and he pretty much bent the rods under his weight.
If you really used your stroller a lot with your first, then I can see the benefit of having a double stroller now. Since I work outside the home, I didn't get much use out of my stroller. If it is the cost, then check out craigslist/pennysaver/classified ads to see if you can get a good second hand double stroller.
As for a carseat, it depends. If the original one is still in good condition (never been in an accident, all the straps are fine, etc) and isn't pass its expiration date, then by all means reuse it.

Re: UGH! Husbands
I would insist on the double stroller if nothing else. That's almost a necessity with two little ones. Like Ali said, maybe compromise on the car seat and either get the bouncy seat or register for one.
