Why doesn't he think you need those things? I can't see why he wouldn't understand the double stroller when ds will still be so young. Bouncy chairs are pretty reasonable - like $30-$40 so that also doesn't seem bad to me. I'm reusing my infant carseat after 2 kiddos. It's still like new. Maybe you could compromise on that one unless you have a major reason for needing a new one. Also, are any of those items things that you are willing to get used? Or, what about selling some things that you didn't like or don't need on craiglist in order to suppliment the cost of new? For example, I hated Coleton's highchair so I sold it on craigslist to buy a new one for O.

My kids are going to be the same age difference as yours. We got a green infant carseat (did not know the gender before Danielle was born) so that will work again. I think I have someone who is going to give me a bouncy since I never had one for Danielle but we have to buy a new swing (our old one broke), and double stroller as well. My husband is ok with that but seems to be stingy when I mention buying anything else (other stuff I think is necessary). So I do understand--- they just don't get it why certain things are necessary. They sometimes just need to take a step back and realize we are being reasonable.

Hmmm....

Double Stroller... I'd check all consignment stores for this. There are SO many moms (like me!) who bought a stroller and NEVER used it and are giving them to Goodwill, 2nd hand baby stores, craigslist, etc. And you have awhile to keep your eye out... as a lot of double stroller aren't really good for NEWnewborns anyway (don't lie flat, etc).

Carseat... For me personally, if I did NOT have THE safest one available, there would be no compromise. Fortunately, we DO have the Graco Snugride from DS (and I could care less about what color it is, my DS has a purple diaper that's leak proof that he wears EVERY day) (uh, cloth! LOL). I'll use it until he grows out of it or until he grows into a Britax Boulevard, and then I'll get another Boulevard.

Bouncy seat... again, craigslist, second hand stores... wherever. I'll have to agree with your DH on this one as I found it to be on my Top Five Biggest Space Wasters... but I KNOW that some moms out there just "couldn't have lived" w/o theirs.

Here's a good one for the stroller/bouncy seat situation. Don't get it. And let him realize the inconvenience. IE, if you don't want to hold the baby or can't, make HIM hold her... and when he's looking for a place to put her down, start in on the vibrating bouncy seat. When you're out in public with NO stroller and both kids... well, let him hold one and chase the other! I'm sure he'll scoop around to the baby section by the end of THAT trip!

Thanks ladies.
I appreciate the advice. I really want if nothing else a new car seat because we had an Evenflo which I hated and I want to get a Graco Snug Ride. The double stroller is a Graco and would work with the new car seat I want. I am pretty much insisting on the double stroller because we like to go for walks around here and I like to get out of the house to go somewhere a few days a week so I don't go crazy in the house. The bouncer I can wait on. Our DS hated the swing we have and loved his bouncer so much that it is pretty much reusable now. Maybe I will wait until after the baby is born to see if she likes the swing that her brother hated! LOL!
Thanks again for all the great advice.

If it is a money thing...go to consignment sales...you can get a double stroller for like 60 bucks...we are doing the whole Dave Ramsey thing so I just have a little to spend each month on baby stuff and those sales help me streach my dollar.

Okay my DH kind of wnet through a phase like this. When we found out we were preggo AND right after we found out it was a girl he didn't want to spend a dime. He argued with me, we fought... the whole 9 yards. However he slowly realized I wasn't being unreaosnable. It took a while, but we met in the middle. I hoep the other mamas advise helps, and just give it time. It will sink in

To echo the other ladies, you are totally within reason.
I sure hope he comes around quickly... You don't need to deal with conflict.
Sounds like he needs to get the memo: pregnant women are always right!
