My poor 20 month old son has pneumonia. The doctor gave us a prescription, however I can't get him to take it! It's liquid and I had the pharmacist add flavoring to it, but he spits it out. Any suggestions?

Leah has had to take a lot of yucky medicine and the only way I can get her to take it is to hold her like a baby and give her a little at a time and then blow in her face right when I give it. When you blow in their face it will cause them to swallow and get the medicine down. Leah hates it but it does work. With some medicine you can mix it with something else but I always felt better doing it that way because I was sure she got it all.

I agree with the holding him down and giving it to him like a baby while blowing in his face. That worked for us when Jack was really small.
Unfortunately, he had really bad reflux as a baby so he had to take medicine 3 times a day and so he is really good at taking medication. I wish he was bad! LOL!

You should call the doctor and see if there is different prescription that could work. My oldest daughter had to take penicillin and no matter what we tried she wouldn't keep it in. We called the doctor and she change the prescription to amoxicillin, which tastes better. She said amoxicilliin didn't work as well and you need to take it for longer, but it since she was able to keep it down, it was our only option.

that is exactly what i do with my son too. He is 2.5 but i still hold him like a baby and put it in the injection thing and just give him a little at a time. But lately when i say you are sick, hes like medicine..lol But I just give him tylenol with the colds. Goodluck hope he feels better soon.

You would think they would have given him a shot with as serious as that is! I do the same thing by blowing in DD's face. When that doesn't work, or if she is crying a lot, when I know she is going to take a breath i shoot it in her mouth with the dropper right as she is inhaling. It works.
You could always try mixing it with juice, but you have to make sure he drinks it all.
