Severely ill....it may be Norovirus

I have been throwing up and having diarrhea since 7:30 this morning. Everything I eat or drink comes up about 5 minutes after I get done consuming it. I am pretty sure that this is the Norovirus, the nursing home that my sister works at had a severe outbreak of this disease. Most of the people in my family have been affected with it, the only problem with me is that my symptoms are worse because of being pregnant. I am starting to get worried because I read about it and it does affect old and pregnant people worse. They say that dehydration is caused from not keeping liquids down and that can result in pre-term labor. Should I wait until tomorrow to contact my doctor or should I talk to my OB tonight, I have been trying to decide what to do based on my symptoms.

Call your doctor now. Dehydration is very serious. They may even recommend you go in and get an IV to keep you hydrated. Call now and KUP on how you feel!

I'd call DR just to inform them and see if they want you to take any extra precautions. They may also tell you certain symptoms to be on the look for and they would want to see you immediately if those symptoms occur. Get better soon!

I'd go ahead and give my OB a head's up tonight. They might be able to give you some reassurance or advice that would help.

I hope you are feeling better ASAP. That sounds like absolutely NO fun!

I agree with the others, I would call now! They might be able to help you get more comfortable or give you IV fluids to keep your mind at ease. I hope your feeling better soon! You poor thing!

I'm sorry you're not feeling well! It sounds awful. I would definitely contact your OB and see what they say. Dehydration is a serious concern for us PG mommas.

Thanks everyone, I called my OB and they told me if I feel dehydrated to go to the ER. Since I am not having any cramping and she is moving they aren't as concerned. I have been able to keep some water down and I just ate buttered toast, so we will see if that stays down.

i think you had the same thing as me. There must be some stomach virus going around. Last weekend dd had it, then my husband and yesterday I had the same symptoms as you. All I ate all day was two bites of toast, two crackers and 4 grapes and I tried to keep having water because I was also afraid of getting dehydrated but I am a lot better today. I am glad you feel better as well! Its hard being sick and pregnant!
