Default maternity bra

I am afraid it won't be long until I need to buy a maternity bra of some kind (ok it is already time, only one fits) and I need advice. I am very picky about bras and on the larger side which means I don't know if a true maternity bra is going to do it! I was kind of thinking I might be able to buy my regular bra bigger and keep the shoulder straps tighted until I fill it out, but I really just don't know. One thing I am worried about is that the maternity bras I have seen are very thin and flimsy and that is not going to work for my comfort level, nor is it appropriate for anything to be "poking out" at work. So, is there a magic bra that you have loved in the past or should I just keep looking?
