Mastitis!? Ouchie!!!!
Ok so For me nursing has benn the biggest challenge . We are still trying to get through the really sore nipples that make you cry(and swear sometimes)stage. But this morning Iwoke up and my right breast felt really really engorged and hurt like i could't imagine. I could barely stand to pump to relieve some pressure. I was freezing, and shaking, and really dizzy. I was really achy allover. Well I was pretty sure I knew what that meant. Went to the instacare clinic and sure enough I have mastitis. It sucks so bad because so far we have not used formula at all. Now I have to pump and dump the milk from that side for a few days. I work so hard to get that milk so its hard to watch it go down the drain. Luckily I have been freezing some and I can usually get plenty for one feeding on the other side, so I can keep u with him.
Oh ya he suggested I use bag balm on my nipples. It is for cows and it stinks, but It helps alot better than lanolin I think. Just so you know.

Oh Stacy, I am battling double mastitis and nipple infections so I literally feel your pain. 
I'm pumping & dumping too and it is heartbreaking to see it wasted (especially when I worked so hard to get it out)!
I hope you feel better ASAP! This too shall pass.

that sucks. i am prone to blocked ducts... which I am praying aren't as frequent this time around. hope you feel better soon.

You don't need to pump and dump with mastitis.
I had it when my son was about 1 week old. Have you had an LC check his latch? My son ended up being tongue tied and needed to get his tongue clipped...totally solved all of our problems.
Getting a good latch can be rather challenging....I hope you two figure it out soon!!

I don't have the infection but about 4 days after i was home. I had the sorest nipples ever. But i talked to a lactation consultant and she gave me a shield and told to use vitimin E. It has healed real good now.
