Default Labor Questions

As all ya'll know I have never been in labor before and believe it or not I still have not talked to my Dr. about when and if I need to call in about symptoms. I am having low back pain, nausea and pretty bad AF cramps but no real contractions... is something I need to keep an eye on? I just have a feeling that I will get the standard "rest" and drink water from my Dr. and I am doing that. I guess I just figured that I should only call in if my water breaks or the contractions have a "timeable" pattern. I know with this being my third c-section they don't want me having hard contractions because that can up my chance of rupture...right?

I am just feeling off and no quite sure what to do about it.

I have the same symptoms and my DH is worries that I should be calling the DR. I really don't know either though. I just assume that I'll "know" when it's really time to call and go in - my water will break or the contractions will be consistent or more painful. I'm glad you asked this. I can't wait to hear what the other ladies say. I have talked to my DR about it and it's still confusing.

The one quote my Dr. told me when I had DD was, "You know it's real contractions when you can't walk or talk through them." And that was sooooo true!! I was on the phone during many of these contractions and had to hand the phone to DH cause I literally could not talk during the pain. HTH.

See, I just worry because I have read that after having 2 c-sections having hard contractions can cause a rupture. I feel like I need to know what to look for before things get that bad. My Dr. said to just rest and drink water... not very helpful.

when's the last time you got checked? id probably ask to be monitored and see if you are having any contractions. ive had 2 csections and been induced once and wouldnt know early labor if it hit me in the face.

My doc told me that I can always go to triage and be monitored or checked at any time without calling him. If you really feel uncomfortable and the rest and water aren't working, then that is what I would do. I figure it's better to be safe and get checked.

I was last checked at 35 weeks... so it's been a good bit and even then all they told me was my cervix was still long. So far resting is working but I am still having the AF cramps and they hurt. I just hate to call my MIL and get her over here if nothing is really going on. I guess if I am still feeling off I might go to L&D tonight but my hospital is a baby factory and I have a feeling I will be waiting ALL night to be seen.
