Hey girls,
He had his 2 week check up today and we not only made it back to birth weight, but we surpassed it!
I must be doing something right!
We went from 6lbs 4oz last Thursday to 6lbs 12oz! That's an 8 oz increase in one week!
Everything is looking good for him. Last night his umbilical cord stump fell off finally and the night before the plasti bell thingy fell off of his hoo hoo. I kind of got worried about that thing because after it came off his penis was a bit red and swollen.
It's back to normal today, which was nice.
She did have a question about the size of his scrotum and checked to see if he possibly had a hernia. He doesn't appear to have one and he's peeing okay, but she said that it seemed a bit full and probably just had fluid in it. She didn't seem too concerned about it, but told me to be on the look out in the next few weeks to see if it gets worse.
They did his newborn screening today, so they had to do a heel prick.
Poor guy, he went through three days of bilirubin checks last week and didn't even flinch, today however he was in pain. Brought tears to my eyes.
Overall, he's doing great! I've had to suppliment some nights with 2-4 oz of formula because he won't latch on due to low supply. However I think my supply increased now and I've switched the type of bra that I'd been wearing and noticed he doesn't have as much of a problem latching on as he was. Hopefully I can continue to bf him for a bit longer.
So we go back in August for his 2 month check up.
