Default DD and this baby

She is finally starting to grasp there is a baby in my belly. I went to pick her up from daycare today and the teacher congratulated me on having a boy... I looked at her a little funny and she said, "Cristina has been talking about her baby brother in mamas belly all day. Isn't it a boy?"
I laughed and told her we won't know for another week. Then at home she got out of the car and I told her me and the baby were hungry and she asked me to "feed baby brother in belly". Now everytime she says brother and belly it melts my heart because brother comes out as "blubber" and belly is "bellwee" So it is so cute to listen to her.
She also told her teacher and me that when the baby got home she was going to feed him milk and sing twinkle twinkle to him.
I love kids reactions to babies! I was so afraid she would be too young to get it, and I think it is finally setting in!
Have your kiddos done/said anything cute about it?

That is too cute. Liam is only 12 months so he doesn't get it. The nurse at the hospital suggested I get him a doll so that he can get used to the idea of being gentle with a baby. I do show him pictures in my pregnancy books and he points and says "baby" which is cute.

That's precious! I can't wait to find out if she's right about the brother...Angelina insisted she was having a sister and she was right!

How SWEET! Isn't it too fun!!!

Caroline is 4.5 so she totally gets it and has been SUPER excited since we told her (which was right after we found out). We told her the baby would be here about a month before she turns 5 so she always says "The baby will arrive, then I'll turn 5, then I'll start my 5 yr old school" (she hasn't gotten the kindergarten concept). It's going to be A LOT of change for her in just a few months. I'm SOOO glad she's an adaptable little girl or I'd be terrified. She constantly says cute things about the baby, but my FAVORITE thing is the picture she drew of our family. Stick figures of dh, me, her and our dog. I have a big belly with what looks like a rastafarian (sp?) with spikey hair in my belly. I need to scan it but she drew it on the BIG BIG paper so I'll have to take it somewhere to scan it.

Awww, Cristina - such a dolly making mama's heart flutter! Don't ya just love it? Kiley's been funny with all of her big girl thinking questions about the whole thing lately. I posted about it on DIJune tonight. And sibs singing "Twinkle, Twinkle..." to each other is the absolute sweetest. Mine have all done it, too...makes it a magical song around here. In fact, thanks to all of the big sissy serenades of it, Ellie's singing it now, too. Well, her version anyway. She gets stuck on the "up above the world..." something like, "Upuh-buh-puh-puh-puh-puh...tweenka...tweenka...how I wonda..."

Ya never know, maybe Cristina's onto something with that little blubber suggestion! Can't wait for you to find out - I know you're so anxious!

That is so sweet. My 3 year old always talks about me feeding the baby in my belly and when he was eating the other day he said that his baby in his belly was hungry and needed to eat. Then while eating he burped and insisted that it was "his" baby. He also says that the baby needs to "get done cooking so he can come out and play". My almost 2 year old thinks he has a baby in his belly too...if you ask him where baby is he lifts up his shirt and points to his belly. :0) Kids are so cute.

How incredibly cute! Just last night my 4 yr old, don't remember how we got on the topic, was insisting that the baby only sleeps when I sleep. I guess that's logical in his little head.

aww, that is so sweet! When we ask Slayde where his baby brother is- he says in his belly- and that he ate him... lol (opens his mouth and points)
Silly kid- I think once I start to show better, he may get where it really is.

My dd is 16 mos old and we got her a doll that cries and you can feed a bottle to back in Dec for the holidays. She loves going around, shooshing it, patting its back, carrying it around and feeding it the bottle. We are hoping that helps when the new baby gets here. She calls her doll 'baby" and it is one of her favorite toys. she is pretty gentle with it.

I love reading about the siblings' reactions!

My oldest prays for the twins' health and safety nightly, and he likes to kiss my belly and say, "It's your big brother!" He's kinda hoping for girls because he says that "Little Rabbit needs some girls to play with!"

My second DS doesn't really say a whole lot about it except he hopes they are boys! He is more willing to help me with Little Rabbit now that he sees I'm slower and have a harder time moving with my burgeoning belly.

Little Rabbit has no clue what's going on! I have to keep her from climbing all over my belly.
