Do you take your kiddos with you when you go?
Our Drs. office 'requests' that you dont bring them, and luckily most of the time I have had DH to come help with Gavin (18 mth old BUSY boy ) Tomorrow I have an appt and DH has to work, so I will have Gavin with me. I cant take him to Mothers Day out because he has been running fevers all weekend.
I dont know what they will do this appt, rather than the usual, but with the excitement of last week, I'll bet they want to check my cervix to make sure I'm not further dilated. What do I do with Gavin during that? Geeeez, I'm all stressed about it

my hubby comes to some of my appointments, and we have to bring joshy since we dont have a babysitter. they took care of me during my pregnancy with him so they are always happy to see him. when i had a vaginal u/s at the beginning of this pregnancy he tried looking underneath the sheet haha. i think that its unrealistic of an OB to expect that no one bring children, sometimes we dont have a choice.
My husband is always at work when I have to go. My daughter doesnt go to school on Fridays so I schedule mine for then so she can go with me and keep and eye on Kamden. There is no way for me to get a sitter for him. Last Friday was my 30 wks app and also Kamden's 18 month app at the same time just to help me out.
Ethan, my 5 yr old, goes with me and does fairly well. Thankfully they don't discourage bringing kids to mine. There's no way with gas prices now that I'm driving him out to my mom's for a 10 min. long appt.

You could call your office and say that you can't find a sitter for your 18 month old, and would they be ok with you bringing him? Or would they rather you reschedule?
My (former) MW had a toy room and encouraged older kids/toddlers to come, even let them hold the fetoscope on mom's belly and all.

My Dh normally accompanies me to my ob appointments and we bring TJ with us. My doc has never discouraged this but if I had to have an internal exam and my hubby wasn't there, I would try to keep him occupied with a toy while he sat in the chair next to the examination table.
My office loves when I bring Caroline, but she's almost 5 and quite calm. If he can't go to MDO b/c he has had a fever then I would probably reschedule so I wouldn't have a sick kid around other pregnant women. If he wasn't sick I would take him, the stroller and lots of quiet activities to keep him busy.

I bring my 3 year old to every single appt, and my dr. is very good about it. He usually talks to her as well and lets her help with the belly measurements and heartbeat!!
I've only had to bring Angelina once so far but I have to again on Friday and I prefer not to have to worry about her while I'm talking to the dr. She's always well-behaved until the doc comes in then she decides she needs my undivided attention.

The midwives I got o are very child friendly. The nurse checking me out the other day was holding someone's baby b/c he was upset They were just passing him around the office to keep him content. It was so cute. Alaina and Addi come with me and my midwife has them help her measure me and listen for the baby. She spends a little more time listening to the heartbeat when they are with so they are sure to hear it. When Alaina was a baby (9-18 months) and I was pg with Addison I would just take her in with me in the stroller. I gave her snacks and toys and as long as I didn't have a long wait it wasn't too stressful.

So after taking DD today to my appt., I have a funny story on this very topic....I had to leave a urine sample and they use the plastic cups instead of the cups with lids. After answering a million questions about why mommy is peeing in a cup (in between the wipe you have to use, peeing all over the cup, cleaning it up, etc.) DD decides she wants a drink of water too. So after I finish up, we fill her cup with water and she walks out of the bathroom drinking water from a cup that says, "URINE SAMPLE" across it. The nurses got a good laugh out of that one!!
Ashley always comes with me. I make the appts. so DH can be there too. My clinic doesn't mind. Ashley gets to help out and put the goop on me, she thinks it is great.
It went just fine with Gavin today, he was very unusually calm during the appointment, which was a nice suprise!! It was just a usual check up, nothing out of the ordinary

I wanted to take my son to the Dr with us. But DH rather him be at the baby sitters and we just show him the pics from the u/s when we have them. I'm not actually sure what there policy is, but i have seen kids in there before.
