worried...anyone hear of this?
THis am we had an u/s and my doc was having trouble getting baby a to cooperate. anyway after he said baby a's femur is measuring behind baby b's by about 2 weeks. i looked up on the internet and read about short femurs and down's- trisonomy 21 and dwarfism...i am very concerned. i have a peri appoinment tomorrow and they will do the biological profiles. I had that appointment already. Anyone know anything about this?? I am very worried.

Sorry, I have no knowledge on the subject. Did your doctor seem worried?

I do not have any information for you either but had the same question if your doctor seemed worried, or have you seen the doc since the u/s?

Re: worried...anyone hear of this?
My son Carson's femur is .5-1inch shorter than the other. Always been that way. The shorter one is thinner too. So one shoe size is smaller than the other as well. He is completely healthy otherwise. They say that normally it could change and catch up after the first year but it hasn't so at our next Shriners appt, we are going to ask about it. I know they do casting (or whatever its called) and such. Hoping no surgery will be involved but its on my mind.
I wouldn't read too much into the internet on things. Info about things tend to scare the crap out of you. But it does prepare you just in case so it isn't a surprise at birth.
Ill be thinking of you (and baby). I wish you the best of luck and thinking positive thoughts.

That baby could just be smaller too...I know someone going through an amnio for this reason at the moment.

Re: worried...anyone hear of this?
Btw, he walked at 11 months, just like his brother did, and is a very good runner now, lol. Loves to jump, lands perfectly, and has great balance. Even though its shorter it doesn't effect him in any way, except for shoe sizes, ugh.
His height is perfect and is a little above average as well.

Re: worried...anyone hear of this?
I do not know any info really but I have heard of trisomy because of a group I was on last year for support. I had a stillborn last year with anencephaly due to lack of folic acid.
I hope everything goes well. *hugs*
I am sorry they have you worried. If it makes you feel better I am worried all the time because of the stillborn last year. I also get freaked at every dr appt and before every ultrasound. My blood pressure skyrockets as a result.

Re: worried...anyone hear of this?
Sorry, I'm no help. I agree that the 'net, while a possible wealth of info, can really take you in the wrong direction and scare the stink out of you! (I've done it many times, too...and ended up worrying about things I didn't even need to.) Is your Dr. reachable? If so, I'd just call or schedule a consult to talk about it. Hopefully one of the babies is just smaller than the other and it's no big deal. (((Hugs)))

Re: worried...anyone hear of this?
I just talked to a friend who said she was told that her second son had a femur not measuring right and his neck ws thick so they said he was going to have downs and he does not have downs. He is age 4 now too.

My son's femur was about the same difference. He is short. That is it.

Re: worried...anyone hear of this?
I'm of no help here either, but will pray that this baby is just a little smaller/shorter than the other and that there is no other problem. Will they be doing any other testing to verify these findings? Of course if the doctor wasn't worried about it, then you shouldn't stress over it.
