what swing did you get
We had to buy 2 swings, since we are having twins.. We got the rainforest one by fisher price and also the aquarium one by fisher price.
Figured we may as well get 2 different ones since we had to get 2.
The papasan one with the sheer thing behind it looks pretty. I thought it may be too girly through since we are having 2 boys.

Re: what swing did you get
We have the rainforest one and it worked well for us but Kate was not a huge lover of the swing. She preferred a travel swing we got from someone that I kept in the bathroom so I could shower. I've heard a lot of great things about the papapsan swing but if you have a baby with reflux, I think it's touhg to use since the baby is mostly reclined.

Re: what swing did you get
We have the aquarium swing - it's nearly 5 years old now because we got it for my daughter but she loved it. I'm hoping this baby will too, I would have been lost without our swing last time

Re: what swing did you get
Ava had the Graco Pooh swing and she was my first baby to not really enjoy a swing - boohoo. Maybe it was a sign of things to come with her - being uncooperative. I loved the swing as far as how it worked and the sounds, etc.... I loaned it to a friend and got it back the other day. I sat it on my porch, because I just unloaded it as I was getting ready to leave for DH. When I got back the battery cover was gone. It was there when I unloaded it and I looked all over the porch and the yard to see if somehow it may have come loose and fallen on the ground. No such luck, so I am going to have to get another swing. I sure hope this baby will like the swing, and it won't be an unnecessary investment. I like some of the FP swings, but then I've read a lot of negative reviews of the motors not working well - only one speed, when it says multiple speeds or barely moving as the baby gets a little weight on him/her, etc.... One even said it had two speeds, stop and superfast that nearly threw the baby out. I hope the ones you ladies have gotten don't give you any problems.

Re: what swing did you get
Ditto the travel swing. Katie had the big Fisher Price swing (way expensive) and a hand me down travel swing (free). Guess which one she liked by a mile...ya, the free one.
My big thing is that I HATE HATE HATE all the big baby items all over my house. The swing, the jumperoo, the exersaucer, the highchair...the clutter and mess drove me insane!!!! Now add in all of Katie's toys and I'll be living in a Toys R Us house!!!

Re: what swing did you get
I had the FP cradle swing with my first 3. I got it as a shower gift. It was the one with ducks hanging on the mobile part. I liked it; loved it, even, in our old house. We had a lot of living space in that house, so it wasn't a big deal that it was HUGE. Now our house has more space in the rooms, but the living spaces are smaller, so I sold my huge cradle swing to a baby consignment store when Parker outgrew it. Even the slowest speed was pretty fast, but my kids seemed to like it. they really preferred the side-to-side motion. The motor was loud and it went through batteries pretty fast. Also, the whole swing moves from side to side when it's going. That was a little unnerving the first go-round but, like I said, I used it for 3 kids and never had a problem with it.
Now I am looking at the FP power plus swing. It can run on batteries or plug in. I think that's pretty cool since those D cell batteries can be expensive and hard to find.
HTH!

Re: what swing did you get
The rainforest swing does do batteries but also plugs in, I always just had it plugged in. I also loved that it went side to side or front to back. I really hope this next baby likes it a bit more!

Shannon, you my just be able to cal Graco and get the replacement part. They used to be one of my clients and I know they have replacement parts for everything. Much cheaper than buying a new swing!

Re: what swing did you get
We have an old Graco one, well the 'new' ones that were made in 2003/2004, LOL! It matched the rest of the set (PnP, carseat/stroller, high chair, diaperbag....) we got. Turned out Isaac didn't like the swing so we barely used it. Luckily my second liked it, but it didn't go well with the reflux he had.
With the third, we'll use it, we'll see if the baby likes it. But Id love to get one of those more newer and comfier papasan ones.
